@goodmostlybad brings three new chugging, bass-heavy tracks to Scuffed on her Shawty 3.0 EP. 

Since debuting the alias in 2020, Indian-born, Qatar-based artist GoodMostlyBad has been honing her craft both as a producer - with tracks appearing on compilations from Daytimers, Earful of Wax, and Reel Long Overdub, alongside a string of self-released projects - and as a DJ, guesting on Rinse FM, Balamii and Reprezent, as well as hosting her own residency on New Delhi’s Boxout FM. 

Citing hip hop, Afrobeats, dancehall and grime as major influences, GoodMostlyBad’s sound eschews definition but pulls from an array of contemporary club genres to create throbbing grooves and dark, intense atmospheres. 

On the Shawty 3.0 EP, GoodMostlyBad further develops the sound she has been nurturing over the past few years, with three tracks that are as ready for headphone sessions as they are for chugging club sets.

Ten Years Lost - Don't Call The Copz

After various publications with Schimmer Records, W133, and zwoelfnullsieben, Timo Rinker debuts his first full album, presenting a collection of both older and more recent projects. Creating a metonymy between a Golden Hour spent in the lush and dewy mornings in the forests of Sri Lanka and the vivacious sweatiness of the final hour of a night at the club, Timo Rinker presents personal moments of bliss, wedged between night and day. Dew is the first track, easing into the album with light drums and an atmospheric sound. The album continues, becoming less atmospheric and more breaky with every track while still being less rough than the second half of the album. Building up the energy further towards the second half of the album, Rituals with its heavy rhythm and bass begins Rinker's switch to a more experimental breakbeat sound, culminating in the electronica sound of Fast Paced. Solar Radiation marks the departure from the more experimental sound into techno and is followed by Insects a bouncy track bopping along like an ant train through a nightclub. Golden Hour, the title-giving track is a joyous ode to summer while the final track Hold Me finishes the album with a melancholic expression of the fleeting nature of contentment.

Premiere: Timo Rinker - Morning Exercises | W133

One year on from his first appearance on the PM+ series, Glasgow’s LWS returns with another two surefooted club cuts shot through with the emergent producer’s trademark flair and laser focus. Matching crisp functionality with dance-melting peaks, he’s zeroed in modernist machine music to incite a feverish response in the firmly established format of the PM+ releases. 

‘Oop’ ratchets down its rhythm section in an instant, leaning on a hefty sub payload and sprinkling some lopsided spectral synth work up top. It’s the buzzing sawtooth bass which will really cast brains and bodies asunder though, gouging a path through the springy groove like a hyped raver making a beeline for front left dosed up on Irn-Bru. 

‘Routine Supreme’ has its own share of fireworks to set off, maintaining the instinctive bounce of ‘Oop’ before derailing the circus train with staccato tech triplets to get gun fingers twitching manically. There’s space for pitch-sliding breakdowns and subtly euphoric peaks, but the rhythm section remains front and centre for maximum club capability. 

Road tested by the trustiest of turntable botherers, both these cuts come with a rave-wrecking guarantee, but that’s no surprise as LWS confirms his prime position in the liminal zone where house, techno and bass coalesce.

We’re excited to announce ‘Soon’ (MANT006), coming from debut artist, oliver. It’s a real honour to be chosen by an artist for their debut release, and we think you’ll enjoy the journey as he drifts between ambient, downtempo electronica, and techno.

'Possession', the stunning opening track, is an ethereal vignette capturing the melancholic atmosphere of late night and early morning. The EP's immersive title track, ‘Soon’, effortlessly layers pads and melodies that combine to provide moments of both introspection and euphoria. 'Tripped' and 'Melt' complete the EP's original material, and are as well suited to a Sunday drive as they are to the dance floor.

As is tradition Ian DPM, the previous EP artist, takes the lead on remix duties. Featuring on his 3rd consecutive Mantissa EP, he imprints his distinctive style on 'Possession', and expertly closes the record with a take that is vibrant, trippy and club ready.

Peder Mannerfelt splits the difference between playful immediacy and daring experimentation. You’re as likely to find him premiering a live show at Berlin’s Atonal festival as pulling apart fabled techno meccas from Berghain to Fabric with synapse-frying precision. One minute he’s being asked to remix Björk, and the next he’s dropping EPs of non-conformist techno for Karenn’s Voam label. 

As a prolific collaborator throughout his career, Mannerfelt has veered from the orchestral tension of Roll The Dice (with Malcolm Pardon) to the anything-goes maximalism of Aasthma (with Pär Grindvik). As a producer, he’s worked on every one of Fever Ray’s acclaimed albums and live shows, as well as projects from alt music heavyweights such as Smerz, Blonde Redhead and Glasser. His Peder Mannerfelt Produktions label has become another outlet for his singular approach, presenting his work alongside similarly experimental operators like Sissel Wincent, Machine Woman, Klara Lewis and Hodge. 

More recently, his PM+ series celebrates the immediacy of club-focused tracks, and Mannerfelt thrives on the energy and community of contemporary club music. What makes him different is his response to that energy, as he pushes the music’s possibilities in wild, unpredictable directions.
