PM+ strides into 2024 with the invigorating energy only a debutant producer can bring, as we proudly present the first public offering from @mrterrycotta We’ve been party to the steady progression of Cotta’s productions for some time now, and with the arrival of ‘She’s Eclectic’ and ‘Running’ we knew the time was right to drop his sound on the unsuspecting dancefloor. 

There’s a raw vibe to these tracks which embodies the essence of a techno jam, revealing in gnarly overtones driven by deadly, effective arrangements. The curveball moves, like the outré drop-out in ‘She’s Eclectic’ or the twisted vocal sample in ‘Running’, are the signature of an artist following their own instincts with nothing to lose. That’s precisely why we’re so drawn to these cuts. 

The rhythm sections won’t let you down, while the synth work and sound design has more than enough spiciness to dance on your tongue and warm your guts. What else do you want from a pair of club tracks?

One half of Scottish duo Clouds, Perth Drug Legend tear off a solo EP of rugged, apocalyptic bloke-techno.

What more can be said about Clouds, young prodigies who have put out as much innovative techno in the past few years than anyone. The story takes a twist with a wealth of material being released by PDL, hot off a remix of Tiga’s Bugatti and releases on Resin and Westend Communications. The sound is reminiscent of Ghost Systems Rave, but there’s the feeling that things have gotten even more refined, something that smacks of a real subcultural movement. 

'Monzievaird' swings heavily around a few twinkling bleeps, sparse, chunky kicks that thunder through the greased hats. 

Freak genius at work.

GoldFFinch return for their second EP for Kevin McHugh's (@ambivalent) Valence imprint, once again bringing their UK- influenced, Belgium-honed techno sound that has seen them release on a diverse range of labels including Numbers, Saigon Recordings and Turbo.

The Modification EP features four tracks imbued with the kinetic energy, insistent rhythms and subtle melodics that followers of the duo have come to expect from their output: expertly produced yet with warmth, edge and individuality.

Peder Mannerfelt splits the difference between playful immediacy and daring experimentation. You’re as likely to find him premiering a live show at Berlin’s Atonal festival as pulling apart fabled techno meccas from Berghain to Fabric with synapse-frying precision. One minute he’s being asked to remix Björk, and the next he’s dropping EPs of non-conformist techno for Karenn’s Voam label. 

As a prolific collaborator throughout his career, Mannerfelt has veered from the orchestral tension of Roll The Dice (with Malcolm Pardon) to the anything-goes maximalism of Aasthma (with Pär Grindvik). As a producer, he’s worked on every one of Fever Ray’s acclaimed albums and live shows, as well as projects from alt music heavyweights such as Smerz, Blonde Redhead and Glasser. His Peder Mannerfelt Produktions label has become another outlet for his singular approach, presenting his work alongside similarly experimental operators like Sissel Wincent, Machine Woman, Klara Lewis and Hodge. 

More recently, his PM+ series celebrates the immediacy of club-focused tracks, and Mannerfelt thrives on the energy and community of contemporary club music. What makes him different is his response to that energy, as he pushes the music’s possibilities in wild, unpredictable directions.
