After what seems like an eternity in lockdown, everyone has found their own way to keep themselves busy. Whilst some have spent hours baking banana bread, Oxford's Deep Field has been cooking up something a little different, tasty slices of D&B goodness.

His debut solo release 'City Lights' is a neon-hued synergetic fusion of sound and feeling, it's ethereal and euphoric introduction making way for a sublime bass driven groove that wouldn't sound out of place on a Liquicity release. Its driving low end funk is gorgeously accented by crisp rolling drums and a smatter of think break, while the whole track is drenched in atmosphere which transports your mind straight to its namesake. Feet pounding down concrete streets, immersed in the soul of a city, people blurring past and bright lights overhead.

Deep Field's work wears its heart on its sleeve, unabashedly giving a clear nod to that unmistakable Hospital Records sound. Technimatic and Nu-Logic jump out as clear inspirations with their new age dancefloor focused liquid, but there are also flashes of Netsky in his synth work and pads, as well as a touch of Break's Bristol flavours channelled through the drums.

The first of many from Deep Field, 'City Lights' is an appetiser for those hunting for a new name in contemporary liquid funk. Stripped back, futuristic dancefloor drum & bass with soul, groove, and meticulous production in abundance.

HC Records is pleased to present its ninth digital release with the first installment of the Low Syndicate Series.

Low Syndicate was born in 2015 as an independent division specialising in low frequencies of the Hypnotica Colectiva crew, the Valencian promoter and owner of HC Records.

After 5 years of offering the most mature and exquisite face of bass music through events in different Valencian clubs and its radio show on Bassport FM, Low Syndicate takes a step further by entering the world of music publishing. This EP is the first contact as a prelude to the launch in 2021 of its own label, Low Syndicate Audio.

'Valencia Manifest EP' aims to capture the great talent of this culturally rich city on the Iberian east coast, called Valencia. A pioneer of low frequencies in Spain, and which during the 2000s was considered the Spanish capital of this sound.
The EP compiles 5 tracks from Valencian producers who have been part of the Syndicate events line up, and that represent the diversity of the different styles that are usually heard at their parties, such as Drum & Bass, Jungle, Juke & Halftime.

The legend Mooncat, one of the most veteran and internationally recognised Spanish producers, is in charge of opening the EP with 'Dubstone'. A theme in which he takes his representative hedonistic Jamaican influenced sound to a sober sphere, fusing reggae and dub atmospheres with the powerful sound of the new Rolling generation.

No Human Sound duo, one of the rising talents of the Valencian scene in last decade, invites us on a cosmic journey as well as heartbreaking with 'Subversive'. Breaking the rules in a masterful way, they rhythmically take us from the depths of the Jungle on the first part of the track directly to outer space, through a pure Drum & Bass second drop.

Lowering the BPM to 160 but not the intensity, haling from South Spain, but based in Valencia, Rootless, injects a significant dose of energy with 'Dancefloor'. Strictly Juke sound from the suburbs with a strong influence from Chicago Footwork and Detroit Techno, but with all the essence of the Mediterranean Sea. It will make your feet moving relentlessly.

The techy note of the EP is given by Delah, British roots young producer born in Spain, that previously released tunes under the pseudonym Keos. This combative 'Riot Thing' is full of minimalism and darkness, Techfunk being the main thread for the insurrection.

The EP concludes with the premiere in the production's world of the Syndicate leadership and veteran comrades Finger & Brozak as beat makers, and Sebzero on the mic. 'No Flags' is a 170 BPMs tune that evolves from Halftime heavy rhythms of its first part to a second drop invaded by hard amen breaks, all driven by thick basslines and an explicit revolutionary message.

Delah - Riot Thing [Hc Records]

Dj Direkt is back with 3 naughty dancefloor bangers for your delight. The title track, "BLOODLIne" is one of those dark as hell bassline rollers peppered with FX and the hook sample "Bloodline" - one to make you screw up your face for sure. Moving on to "spekULATE" and the versatile producer gets creative with wobbling basslines and some legacy jungle loops in the background for good measure. He finishes the job with "WRENtch" - a take no prisoners, no nonsense banger. Clever use of samples keeps the interest as the bassline weaves in and around the drum work. Excellent stuff.
