Alex Jimenez’s journey into DJing began at 17, when he was snuck into a Deep Therapy event—a night that left a lasting impression. More than just a party, Deep Therapy was one of Ottawa’s most respected underground gatherings: the kind of experience where music, production, and atmosphere all align. That night opened his ears to the deeper, groovier, and more soulful side of electronic music—and quietly sparked an obsession to understand it, then share it.

After years of digging and refining his ear, he stepped into the booth at 22 during Beyond City Beats, the open decks and networking night at City At Night. It was there that he found community, built confidence on pro gear, and began shaping his voice as a DJ.

His first real break came not at home, but abroad—landing a month-long residency at Raindance, a party hostel on Ometepe Island, Nicaragua. Playing Wet Wednesdays and most nights of the week, he learned to read a room, adapt, and build energy from scratch. That experience shaped the way he approaches every set: with patience, intention, and a desire to connect.

Since returning to Ottawa, Alex has played steadily across the city, including a standout opening set for Mustafa Ismaeel at Undercurrent, and slots alongside Mitch Oliver and Tyler Mesa—key voices in Canada’s underground scene.

His sets reflect that same honesty. Deeply tuned into the ever-evolving sounds of the underground, He-Menace blends raw, soulful, genre-blurring selections—always searching for the records you didn’t know you needed to hear. For him, DJing is about curation, storytelling, and staying connected to the pulse of the culture.
