The Tragedy Of War

A simple, rather loose, jazz ensemble, and a simple message.
It seems as though the social and political turbulence is much like trying to paddle your own canoe - it's going to get rough and it will feel as though hope is lost, but don't stop and don't despair. Hope Floats.

The song was originally intended as a relationship muse, where two people are supposed to be paddling, together, in the same direction, but the boat keeps turning 'round and 'round. It takes courage to realize you can only control your own paddle and how you use it. It can be overwhelming and daunting, at times, and you may be inclined to abandon ship: don't.

I've Got My Paddle in the Water

For this the Moog Spectravox had my attention, I was having problems in my studio and something wasn't quite right with this unit. Fearing I had a faulty machine I removed from the rack and tested from my desk. The problem was discovered to be the cable from the synth to the mixer. A much less expensive fix. It can be heard very clear at the end of this piece.

Note: (As a personal protest I'm not doing the below anymore even if the technique works. I read one great artist questioning another great artists authenticity and I found that pretty shit and it's the way we are currently embracing ai that's to blame. So I ain't feeding the beast at all anymore. However I will leave it here as a mark to as much of it as I ever justified in my head) (FUCK the way humans are dealing with AI)

AI voice modeling is a phenomenal way to practice this and hone your voice. I'm not for a second suggesting use it in the result of a piece of art however as a tool to train your good self. Absolutely 

AI can model your voice at different ranges and make you sound real. The nuances of your own unique delivery are brought across so you can actually use this to become your own amazing frame of reference to sing with and improve your own material in the sense you end up closer to what you can imagine given your expanded ability and range you've delivered yourself with modern and very specific practice. It's particularly handy if you are attempting something for the first time. Pitch shifting with the correct subtle gradual movement to the range you struggle in can be a way of getting there. During the process you retain that confidence of enjoying a solid performance and don't get frustrated doing it wrong while trying to train the muscles to be able to actually get there. We inspire ourselves in every musical moment by staying inspired and it sounding good for me is an important part of staying lasered to that instinct which allows you to deliver your best everytime. Maybe it's me but if an idea is running flat... I forget it and move on... So in that light this is a great way of staying ahead of that dagger that might have you doubting yourself 

This is a good example in my opinion of using the tool to become more creative and not the opposite like a lot of people do. If the tool makes art for you ,you are a tool as we would say in Ireland. Use the tool then You are an artist...
