After countless hours spent chopping up vinyl, laying down basslines, tweaking synthesizers and banging on drum pads I'm proud to present "I'm Gone". This album aims to bring back the soulful sounds of the past while maintaining a bass-heavy modern feel. I'm especially happy with two tracks on the album which feature my friend Willdabeast (of Snug Harbour and Michal Menert Big Band). Will laid down some soulful horns, flute and a few other instruments to take my sample-based beats to the next level. Heliotrope - The Russ Liquid Test

‘The Breakers’ is a synth-pop inspired track that represents a new approach to writing music for Big Something. "It’s one of those songs that kind of magically wrote itself in the moment,” says lead vocalist Nick MacDaniels. “It really turned into a thesis statement for the entire new album.” 

“Escape” the title of the album even comes from the lyrics in this song, which serve as a reminder to keep living and dreaming in the face of struggle. Lead guitarist Jesse Hensley explains, “For me it’s about looking at one another without judgement and always doing our best to stay present with the people around us and empathetic to what they may be going through.”

So a little back story on this track I played in Houston last December on the 29th. My mom had never seen me play before and her birthday is on the 30th so I dropped this for her at 12. Its pretty much just a remix/edit but it means a lot to me and hopefully it can do the same for you. Happy Mothers Day. (I lost the project file so its a lil rough but hey mommas don't care)
