Utrecht: We've returned to one of our favourite Dutch venues, WAS, for another all-nighter. First up on the broadcast is Nous'klaer Audio star Konduku.

Cindy Li, better known as Ciel is a key DJ, producer, promoter and activist from Toronto, Canada. One of the most deeply respected breakouts of recent years. Since 2015, Li has been promoting dance music in the city, running various nights like Work In Progress and It’s Not U It’s Me. She was in music way before, working on a college radio station called CFRC-FM, where she adept in her ways and skills as a DJ. Focused on moving up the local scene in Toronto, to leave a bigger imprint and recognition as in Canada as beyond. “Think global, act local” mantra would describe her at its best. She's a long-time resident at Bambi's & a member of Discwoman. She released her first EP on Peach Discs in 2017 and followed up with a 4 tracker on Coastal Haze, called Hundred Flowers. In 2019, Ciel has established her own label alongside friends Daniel 58 and Yohei S, called Parallel Minds. All of that has made Ciel one of the most deeply respected breakouts of recent years. We, to put it simply just love her sound that blends from house to electro and techno, with merging breaks, busting bassline and atmospheric synths with loads of percussive sounds. Enjoy!

I'm grateful for the adventure of producing this Bunker mix––a collage of polyrhythmic explorations from around the world that point to the pursuit of all rhythms slinky, freaked-out, and asymmetrical. I wanted to sculpt these selections into new forms by carving and collaging heavily, so you’ll hear up to four channels playing at the time. The hidden potential in a wild combination is what keeps me curious, and the glue that holds this web together. These zones have kept me moving while finishing Suggested Forms (out Feb 14th on Human Pitch) and Temporary Music by my collaborative project Asa Tone on Leaving Records. trying to write a lil blurb about josh is an unjust task. this person is so many things for so many people in so many ways... truly a renaissance girl, here's someone whose generosity can only be rivalled by their incredible, unmatched sensibility for music old and new - and his patience to track down artists and convince them to release or re-issue their stuff on his label. diggers love to brag, but they impress little when standing next to giant like this: a lover who does it for the sharing, for the stories, to keep the myriad legacies alive and ready to inspire futures. i don't know how on earth and the cosmos i was lucky enough to be introduced to this bb, but i thank the great magicianess every day for this friendship. whenever we get to spend time together everything feels right. like the great tapestry makes more sense and comes full circle. whether we laugh or we cry or (likely) eat, it just reminds me that ugh, yes, despite all the pain and the dire prices to pay, it's worth it to live because of shared moments like this.

of course josh, in true self-depricating genius fashion, said this when delivering this beautiful mix: 'here is my mix. it's only songs from 2020 lol i am a dork'. well, it had to be released today cause we all deserve to have this on our players to help us elevate into a (hopefully shinier) 2021 while being thankful for the silver linings 2020 had - music does save. especially music that comes from a heart like josh's.

Nashville-based producer, percussionist, and DJ @mischa-lively (née Blake Barton) has held a special place in our hearts over the past few years, ever since first discovering his work through his parties, and recordings on RACECAR and his own imprint, New Love Unlimited. Every new mix from Mischa is a true joy and an event that is bound to cure whatever ails ya. Likewise, his productions sparkle, consistently turning up in mixes from our most beloved selectors. For that reason, there's no one we'd rather have help us ring in the beginning of this wild, troubled, and hopeful year, with his dreamy brand of life-giving, rhythm-forward soul and italo. Our little islands feel more and more like an archipelago of love after each listen, and for that we're ever thankful.

"At the end of 2019, @ilind and I discussed me recording a mix for their series Abstract Without Abstraction. Nearly a year later, after adapting to quarantine, I finally submitted a mix to them. I selected important records from my personal history (plus a few newer acquisitions) and focused on the long blend, honoring mood and song structure. No longer having a monthly DJ slot, this is a snapshot of what I might’ve played during hour 1 of 5 at Duke’s had the pandemic never took hold. What is strange is this mix was recorded in early October 2020, and was guided by thoughts of renowned laid-back resident DJ, José Padilla, mixed eerily just a couple weeks before his death on October 18, 2020. This is my interpretation of José’s Balearic resident ethos, albeit less beachy and much slimier. Thank you José for reminding us that the person mixing is just the conduit for the greater magic already existing in the music. And thank you Isaac allowing my submission."
