Tsurugi is an individual deeply embedded in the underground techno scene, with his feet and passion firmly rooted. Tim may well have been our first-ever international attendee, visiting from Washington in the United States. He mentioned coming alone after spotting the lineup on social media, using it as the perfect excuse to revisit the UK for a musical journey. Since then, he has committed to this annual dance, becoming a true hero of Above Below, cherished dearly in our hearts.

Tsurugi has released podcasts for platforms such as Monument, Sure Thing, and The Vortex, while also gracing the stages of clubs in Berlin, Tokyo, and the United States. In his podcasts, Tsurugi smoothly blends nature and techno, reflecting the symbiosis felt in the Chiltern Hills at Above Below. The anticipation surrounding the forthcoming Mostra Festival is real, with only a few weeks remaining until music aficionados convene in the enchanting backdrop of Barcelona's Hangar and Castel De Montjuïc. In our ongoing collaboration with Mostra, we are thrilled to present the latest mix from an artist whose name resonates deeply within our community - Forest Drive West.

Recorded live at last year's ExtraMostra event at Lolita, where Forest Drive West shared the stage with Ana Sola & Estrato Aurora (whose set we also had the pleasure of hosting) and Mostra's own Josh Hoppen, this set epitomizes the artist's mastery cultivated over the past decade.

What unfolds in this recording is a pulsating amalgamation of tribal, bass, halftime, and techno, a signature style meticulously crafted by Forest Drive West ever since his debut EP, System in 2016. The auditory journey commences with an immediate liftoff, as infectious grooves propel the listener into an interstellar expedition akin to a spacecraft hurtling towards unexplored realms. Approximately 30 minutes into the set, Forest Drive West adeptly recalibrates the energy, initiating an exploration of novel, uncharted territories with a meticulously woven techno narrative. The seamless transition of grooves adds an element of intrigue, rendering the entire listening experience undeniably interesting.

Forest Drive West is poised to grace the illustrious "Pati" stage of the Castel De Montjuïc on the evening of Friday, March 29th—an occasion sure to be nothing short of magnificent.

This edition of The Bunker Podcast comes from @camillealtay (they/them), a visual artist, composer and DJ who lives and works in Climax, New York. 

Camille spent formative years as a drum and bass dj in the house-heavy rave scene in Chicago in the late 90s. A contrarian in nature, Camille has been known to play genre-bending dj sets with influences ranging from Cumbia to Ghettotech. Camille’s live sets lean toward the spiraling, runaway arpeggiations of synth music in its initial stages of identity crisis - whether to emulate real instruments, or subversively carve a path towards unnamed and evolving shapes of space and identity. Camille has a recent release on the The Bunker’s long-form sub label Going In, is a founding member of of the group Birds of Prey (Kathexis Records, Mysteries of the Deep), and collaborates with LA artist Israel Vines under the moniker CAIV, with the most recent release Dwellers EP out on Tresor Records.
