A third original score for a Doctor Who fan series by Robin J. Hopewin, titled Doctor Who Undone 1. This album and corresponding episode may be the shortest thus far, but they certainly pack just as much of a punch!

Undone Vol. 3

Ensnared returns with an eerie arrangement for string quartet. This one's pretty short, but with a simplistic leitmotif like this one, I found it best not to let them overstay their welcome.

My Own Cage

In stark contrast to the previous, this variation of DD01 is the most mischievous I've written yet. It's a little gremlin theme for a little gremlin companion with a glint in her eye.

Glinting Lights

This is a variation of an upcoming theme, Lament of Sinners, which was originally written for synth metal ensemble in July of last year (crazy, right?) before finally being formally assigned here. This particular variation ended up being mostly replaced in the final edit, but the latter half can still be heard at the very end of the episode.

In the Path of Eternity

This variation of CE01B is another small window into my current state of wellbeing; I always treat these as such when I'm scoring an Undone episode. Take that as you will, I suppose.

A Burdened Life

The villain theme. Really. That's how I pitched it, and that's what I'm sticking with. I've arranged quite a few hymns in my day and studied their structure, so I thought it'd be fun to finally write my own (admittedly, with a bit of extra bite in the latter half's lyrics).

Glory Be!

From the moment I finished the first variation of Counter, I knew I wanted to do this one. It's a hefty combo of most of the primary themes from this episode, but the main focus is naturally on the altered version of the Undoing motif. It's a complete meal of a track that was originally intended to end the album, and for now, it will. But fate may have other plans...

What Their Undoing Will Be

Ensnared is a more generalized tension motif that I initially drafted for episode/volume 2 of this series, and the first half of this variation made it into the forementioned episode. In keeping with tradition, here it is in full!

Catch You Unaware

As always, I'm kicking off this album with the big main theme for this episode. As the primary key for the previous episode was A, this episode received that of D (y'know, like in 'devil').The decision to give this theme a prominent role in the episode's final edit was made in the week before it's release, but it certainly slipped into the role succinctly.

Echoes in the Sky

BOOM, BUM BOOM BA-BADA BUM. It's a painfully catchy drumbeat inspired in part by my favorite Ravel piece (you know the one). This one took a little while to complete from beginning to end, but it was well worth it to finally release it almost a year later.

Lament of Sinners

Echoes in the Sky finally gets a variation in the form of a slow, brooding strings variation. It's in the organizational structure that this theme sometimes feels like the estranged sister of DR05/Behind the Shadow. I find that a little interesting.

Rise Tonight

In an interesting case caused by arranging these in rough order of appearance within the episode, the two string quartet variations are presented back to back. This wrenching take on Lament of Sinners underscores a pretty heavy conversation between a companion and the pope. You had to be there, really.

Pain & Absurdity

BAJ07A was a little theme I initially wrote for strings and piano, but it grew in scale over time to the monster it is now. I originally planned to do a few more variations, but in the end, I ran out of episode to score. As a standalone piece, though, it makes for a great showcase for GALENAIA, the newest member of our virtual chorus.

Showers of Blessing

Counter, or Counterpoint, was a special variation on the Undoing leitmotif that I cooked up for this episode, and it appears in three tracks within this score. If you can find the third one, you're my favorite.

Undo & Counter

Ensnared, fully fledged. In the same way that His Favorite Son was a showcase for GALENAIA, this is a showcase for HXVOC, the second of the new SV2 vocalists. I listened to a lot of nostalgic 2000's pop for inspiration to write this one, and it was a blast from start to finish.
