SOUNDMODE1 is totally addicted to everything Old Skool...

The late 80's and early 90's were a special era in dance music. The early Acid House and Rave Scene were huge, and many styles of music emerged which have evolved into the genres you hear today.

SOUNDMODE1's life was changed one day in 1991 when he was handed his first Mix Tape and he has not looked back musically since.

Early influences include such DJ's and Producers as Carl Cox, Sasha, Dave Clarke, Ellis Dee, Top Buzz, Phantasy, Ratty, Krome and Time, 2 Bad Mice, Danny Breaks, LTJ Bukem, Nookie, Foul Play and many more...

He bought a set of Technics 1210's at 15 and played at many Private Parties locally spreading his musical vibe, introducing friends to DJ'ing and partying hard with some amazing people.

For one reason or another the decks had to be sold a few years later, but SOUNDMODE1 never lost his love for the Music or the Scene, attending Raves and Club nights across the UK and beyond and Promoting the Hard House night OUT OF THIS WORLD in the Channel Islands with long time friend Michael Hooker

After a 12 year break from DJ'ing SOUNDMODE1 rediscovered his passion in 2010 and has been busy tweaking his mixing skills, and sorting through huge amounts of tunes to bring you the finest music of a very special generation.

SOUNDMODE1 is Promoter/Resident DJ for Old Skool club night -MELTDOWN - coming to Jersey soon.

Also expect plenty of new mixes in 2011, ranging in genres from early House and Acid House, to Hardcore, Jungle, Techno and early Happy Hardcore!

If it's Old Skool, SOUNDMODE1 will be playing it...



Hey, Gareth here, I'm a graphic designer who start designing for clubs, parties, and labels in the late 90s. Back then, mix CDs were the holy grail of both design and music. I loved them.

But I wasn't the only one, mix cds were the soundtracks of our nights, our days, our afterparties and lives, for everyone. Yet in today's internet age, the art form has been lost (or just changed) to 2-3 hour online mixes and streaming videos, which just don't create the same magic your CD collection did. Just 60 minutes of music and incredible artwork.

The Classic Mix CD Series celebrates these discs, their soundtrack, their box art and your memories. We hope you enjoy it.
