To mark 30 years since the legendary set, the long-lost mix has now been remastered after a copy was discovered in someone's garage just last year.

The The 264 Cru lads asked me to put a selection together for their 'The Comedown' mixes, designed to provide end of week, lazy listening from some of the city's finest selectors. The mix features new music from Glenn Astro, Archy Marshall, Henry Wu, Mike Gao, K15, Stro Elliot, Sokro, No Puls, Profusion and Frederick. It's a reflection of my more leftfield tastes, some of which you can here for during the beautiful Pierchic sunsets. Give it a spin, it's a Saturday after all.

Re-loading this now mixes on SoundCloud seem to have some breathing space. It's the third mix in the 'One for the Ladies' mix take a 'Dubai Ladies Night' twist, banging out class chart from the 80's, 90's and beyond that the lasses love mixed in with a few cooler numbers like Slum Village amongst others.

It also pretty much sums up the vibe down at LeftBank on a Wednesday night where I used to play.

My first ever mix! Done circa 2004 at the time we were putting on parties down The Bonded Warehouse (Sunderland Uni's riverside bar). It represents many of my first vinyl purchases. Some heavy coverage from early Groove Armada, alot of left field hip hop, beats and downtempo stuff. Plus some of the Late Night Tales / Another Late Night EP's which were released around the same time. It's even got some half decent and well timed attempts of scratching! (I say half decent for a beginner anyway). A true blast from the past indeed!

September Sunshine - Electronica, Soul, Jazz & Laid Back House (2009)

The Essential Mix is a weekly radio show on BBC Radio 1 currently broadcast between 0:00 - 2:00 AM UK time on Saturday morning. Originally broadcast on 30 October 1993, the Essential Mix features contemporary DJs and music producers of electronic dance music. The show has been presented since its inception by Pete Tong and features an uninterrupted two-hour mix from a different artist each week, overlaid with occasional continuity announcements delivered by Tong. With a broadcast run in excess of 25 years, the Essential Mix is one of the longest-running programmes in the current BBC Radio 1 schedule, and is one of very few Radio 1 shows which is not broadcast live.

Hey, Gareth here, I'm a graphic designer who start designing for clubs, parties, and labels in the late 90s. Back then, mix CDs were the holy grail of both design and music. I loved them.

But I wasn't the only one, mix cds were the soundtracks of our nights, our days, our afterparties and lives, for everyone. Yet in today's internet age, the art form has been lost (or just changed) to 2-3 hour online mixes and streaming videos, which just don't create the same magic your CD collection did. Just 60 minutes of music and incredible artwork.

The Classic Mix CD Series celebrates these discs, their soundtrack, their box art and your memories. We hope you enjoy it.
