About the cd:
A superb surprise episode for 041 in the series. Massive thanks to Nick Sneddon for sending over some epic CDs recently. We are really happy to feature more downtempo CDs... it feels like the recovery soundtrack to countless nights clubbing and those sun kissed days that followed (well maybe not so much if you grew up in the UK).

Considering this came out in 1996, it features some simply gorgeous deep house and laid back electronic which go onto cement why DJ Harvey is a cult dj amongst fans and fellow spinners. It's a pleasure not just remember my own collection, but have other people send in theirs. And it's even better discovering that there's hundreds of other classics out there which need to be shared with everyone. Thanks again for the good vibes.

029 - Late Night Sessions mixed by DJ Harvey (1996)

I pulled a stack of records about a year ago (or longer) when reorganizing my collection and then the other day I randomly pulled out some of similar tempos and made this mix.  I think most of these records are from 2002-2003 era. 

I always loved the House & Deep House b-sides that took things down in the Bpm range. Hence the genres I'm involved in now.  

This is part 1...there are probably enough records pulled to make 2 more mixes in this series.

On my recent tour of Asia my set at Bali's famous KU DE TA was recorded.
This is part one of a two part mix and as its been a while since I posted a live session so I thought the time was right, this is also a DL.

To celebrate 10 years since my first ever demo 'Smile' I wanted to do something special. This mix is the first of a few I have planned this year and I wanted to make it EPIC! So its 4 hours long!!! Yep that's right, 4 Hours. By far the longest mix I have ever done.

I am best known for playing Bounce and its the genre I like playing the most. This mix is basically a best of Wain Johnstone bounce from the last 10 years encompassing nothing but tunes I absolutely adore and a stack of my favourite power mixes which you may have heard before but I had to include for nostalgic reasons! 

Don't expect a journey! No no no! This is full on peak time bounce done the Wain Johnstone way!

Smile 10 Years (Bounce Edition) - Wain Johnstone

Originally aired February 11, 2016. The TRACKLIST is posted below the description. Some of you might know that my last SC account got purged a few months ago and I lost a lot of old mixes. A lot were sets that were recorded live but I also lost a series where I did B2B sessions in my studio with DJ friends when they were visiting LA. One of the most popular one was the one I did with NDYD's label boss Kris Santiago (@krissantiago) when he was here visiting two summers ago. A lot of people reached out to ask after the purge if this mix was still available somewhere. Well now it is! I found the original recording we did and I re-master it   and now it's EP75 of the radio show.  If you heard it before you will be glad to revisit it and if you never did well it still sounds fresh.

Next week we are back with a big special guest from Australia and I can tell you he is one of my favs and I am so excited to have him on the show. I might need a 'doctor' for this one. About the CD:
005 of the 'Classic Mix CD' collection brings a much slower affair. From the superb 'Back To Mine' CD series. The first I purchased was actually Danny Tenaglia's disc, which I bought out of curiosity being a fan of his house DJ sets. That disc almost made it here, but it was the Groove Armada release which really got hammered on my old Sony stereo. No other disc reminds me of lazy summer sundays more than this. And it was really the first musical selection that steered me towards collecting and playing a mix of music all together. Going from A Tribe Called Quest, into Barry White's incredible "Playing Your Game Baby" then house and other genre's coming in.... really resonated with me and elevated the way I put music together. Both listening to and playing out. A truly seminal release.

LATE NITE TUFF GUY @ MIDNIGHT CITY (21/06/2013)

Hey, Gareth here, I'm a graphic designer who start designing for clubs, parties, and labels in the late 90s. Back then, mix CDs were the holy grail of both design and music. I loved them.

But I wasn't the only one, mix cds were the soundtracks of our nights, our days, our afterparties and lives, for everyone. Yet in today's internet age, the art form has been lost (or just changed) to 2-3 hour online mixes and streaming videos, which just don't create the same magic your CD collection did. Just 60 minutes of music and incredible artwork.

The Classic Mix CD Series celebrates these discs, their soundtrack, their box art and your memories. We hope you enjoy it.
