About the CD:
I was always aware of Bukem, another DJ who managed to make underground rumblings to the listeners of the British dance scene without  us seemingly knowing who they even were... we just knew about them anyway.  immediately fell in love with this CD once Makoto's 'Inside Your Love' rolled in with MC Conrad's silky smooth mc'ing riding over the top. I'd always loved drum and bass from a distance, but from hearing that track... I was forever a massive fan. I bought into the Good Looking label, bought alot of old releases, all the mix cd's and then fell in love with Bukem's downtempo sister label 'Cookin Records'. This influence was one of the main sounds of my early vinyl days and has gone on to educate and delight for another decade and more. Play it loud, ride the groove, feel the bass. BUKEM!

Smooth with the mellow, that's how we kept it... This is my (Jo Public) mix of the tracks on CD-A from the original 1996 version of LTJ's Logical Progression (the unmixed CD), I am NOT affiliated with GoodLooking. This mix features 10 of the best intelligent DnB tracks ever made, each track easily stands on its own but I don't like uploading full tracks unmixed - it feels like too much of a copyright infringement - plus I never listen to unmixed tracks - hopefully my mix does 'em justice. I've been looking for this set for a long time but have never been able to find it online, only the 2001 re-released version where the mixed CD was replaced with the 'Ministry of Sound Half A Decade Of Dance' 96 live set and different tracks on the un-mixed CD. I brought a 2nd hand copy from Discogs.com after losing my original copy of CD back in 2005.

No infringement of copyright is intended, I'm assuming it's ok to make this available to download as it's not possible to buy this new anymore. If there is a problem with copyright let me know and I'll remove it.

As always, all props to the artists, producers n engineers that made these tracks, nuff respect to all the Goodlooking family.

642 - Progression Sessions 1 - LTJ Bukem feat. MC Conrad (1998)

The Essential Mix is a weekly radio show on BBC Radio 1 currently broadcast between 0:00 - 2:00 AM UK time on Saturday morning. Originally broadcast on 30 October 1993, the Essential Mix features contemporary DJs and music producers of electronic dance music. The show has been presented since its inception by Pete Tong and features an uninterrupted two-hour mix from a different artist each week, overlaid with occasional continuity announcements delivered by Tong. With a broadcast run in excess of 25 years, the Essential Mix is one of the longest-running programmes in the current BBC Radio 1 schedule, and is one of very few Radio 1 shows which is not broadcast live.

Hey, Gareth here, I'm a graphic designer who start designing for clubs, parties, and labels in the late 90s. Back then, mix CDs were the holy grail of both design and music. I loved them.

But I wasn't the only one, mix cds were the soundtracks of our nights, our days, our afterparties and lives, for everyone. Yet in today's internet age, the art form has been lost (or just changed) to 2-3 hour online mixes and streaming videos, which just don't create the same magic your CD collection did. Just 60 minutes of music and incredible artwork.

The Classic Mix CD Series celebrates these discs, their soundtrack, their box art and your memories. We hope you enjoy it.
