French DJ and producer Okain has been collecting, spinning and producing music for 15 years. He grew up in Paris and fell head first into house and techno as an impressionable teenager. After spending countless hours listening to DJs like Laurent Garnier, he soon picked up the bug and began spinning and sculpting for himself. Now,years later, Okain finds himself as an accomplished international DJ and producer with plenty of great credits and a solid discography.
 
Okain got his first residency as a Dj in Paris when he was still in High school and never stoped playing since then. Driven by a strong desire of making his own tracks he naturally started to learn how to produce music on his own and he secured his first releases in 2007 gaining support from the key players in the scene since day one. Okain has released music on world respected labels such as Tsuba, Bpitch Control, Hypercolour, Quartz and Truesoul to name a few. He uses various alias such as his real name Samuel Thalmann, Lezar or Handycraft as his collaboration with techno artist Paul Ritch.
 
In late 2015, having learnt from the masters, the now Berliner is taking matters into his own hands with his own brand new label named Talman Records. Like all of his music to date, Talman Records is a deeply personal affair. Exclusively focusing on his own releases, Talman gives Okain even more freedom to express his deep-seeded love affair with music.
 
On the DJ side, Okains popularity continues to grow years after years, he travels the world playing at some of the most respected spots such as Panorama Bar Berlin, Fabric London or the Rex Club Paris not to mention his appearance at some of the best festivals like Awakenings in Amsterdam.

Residing in the outskirts of Frankfurt in a small town called Giessen, a journey started for a young man who is now known as the producer and DJ - F.eht. Growing up in this quiet town in the 90's he prepared for the path he was to start walking down in his late teens. Through childhood there were many sounds which stuck in Ferhat's mind and influenced him in many ways, including the sounds of soulful jazz numbers put together by Syl Johnson and many others from the USA, and a great deal of raw dusty beats and samples running through MPC's in the world of Hip Hop.

Since embarking on his journey at the age of 16, his horizon has broadened even more. On the production side, F.eht has released a catalogue of music that has received support from a lot of big names, as well as the support of other up and coming artists over recent years that have grown along side him. A number of projects have been released on his own label Samani, which was launched in early 2015.

The young German artist has also had great success in the world of gigs, playing in clubs in Europe, Russia, and other destinations across the world. With a spectrum of opportunity and talent on his side, things are sure to continue growing for F.eht.

There are plenty of DJs playing hypnotic techno, but few capture this meditative tone as well as Julia Govor. Behind the booth she plays a mix of smooth and deep cuts spanning the breadth of the genre, while her releases offer the same pensive driving quality that likely attracted Ricardo Villalobos to work on a remix for her. 

Govor’s musical background started early in her life. Growing up in Russia she was part of the military band Moryachka, and at the start of her working career she interviewed key figures in house and techno as a journalist at MTV. Once she started writing music, she made a permanent move from Berlin to New York. For a career as a DJ this might seem unorthodox, but it’s probably disconnecting from the city’s intense atmosphere that offers a big part of her inspiration. 

Once she began writing music, she relocated from Berlin to New York City, where she now lives with her husband. Moving from Berlin to a metropolis like New York might seem an unorthodox move, but as she told us, a big part of her inspiration comes from disconnecting from the city’s atmosphere. 

Before she makes her debut at the club on 25th November, we invited Govor to give us a mix and interview feature. For her mix, she sent us back an uncompromising two hour recording of hypnotic modern techno.

Intergalactic Gary deserves a statue. His modest soul has shaped the Dutch dance scene to an extent few tend to fully apprehend. Where stars in this culture seem to rise and fall within the blink of an eye, his serene presence throughout decades offers a welcome stable factor for an ever so restless community. And still, after 29 years in the harness, his urge to dig deeper, his hunger for a night-spanning groove is not matched by peers. Listen to three and a half hours of deep and dark Acid and Electro, mixed to absolute perfection by Sir Intergalactic Gary.

2019 was my 5th Burning Man, with 2010 being my first. Distrikt was already one of the top sound camps in BRC almost a decade ago & a place I’ve spent many an hour kicking up the dust with friends over the years. It was therefore of course an honor & a privilege to play at Distrikt this year where I played from 3pm - 4:30pm on the Thursday afternoon. With the crowd just starting to build before I went on I decided to drop the energy back a little to establish a solid groove and start the fun journey that would build the vibes appropriately for all that was to follow that afternoon. I hope you enjoy this musical journey as much as I did. What an amazing day that was.

Hey, Gareth here, I'm a graphic designer who start designing for clubs, parties, and labels in the late 90s. Back then, mix CDs were the holy grail of both design and music. I loved them.

But I wasn't the only one, mix cds were the soundtracks of our nights, our days, our afterparties and lives, for everyone. Yet in today's internet age, the art form has been lost (or just changed) to 2-3 hour online mixes and streaming videos, which just don't create the same magic your CD collection did. Just 60 minutes of music and incredible artwork.

The Classic Mix CD Series celebrates these discs, their soundtrack, their box art and your memories. We hope you enjoy it.
