About the CD:
My second ever house CD! I bought this one for my Christmas box through the Metro Centre in Newcastle if I remember correctly and it was the real catalyst for getting me into clubland and house music. Featuring artists that defied genres and  the underground/overground such as Leftfield, Living Joy, Wildchild and Inner City... this was music all of the UK was dancing too not just to cool kids. A pretty amazing time to be a young kid getting into music heavily... my biggest regret... not buying turntables!

012 - Fantazia presents 'The House Collection vol.3' - Disc 1 - Mixed by Jeremy Healy (1995)

1990, or was it 1991?  The first hour of this is probably more akin to what was played at the Warehouse in Leeds in those years, but the mix could have just as easily been called Ricky's or the Gallery or named after any other club in the North of England for that matter.  The Warehouse was the first club I went to though and its a tribute to how blown away I was as soon as I'd blagged my way in saying I'd lost my mates, even though I looked about 12.  Those nights, and Boy Wonder especially were very special indeed.

My old school sets are inspired by the cassettes I heard just as I was getting into the dance/ rave scene as a teenager in roughly '90-'92. Those tapes came from places including Grin DJ's (Vertigo/ Welly, Jon Kelly), Shelleys (Sasha, Dave Seaman, Nipper), and some of the bigger raves at the time including Fantazia, Obsession, Universe ect. 

Everything I mix is done on two Technics with Allen & Heath Xone22 mixer via Serato scratch live.

242 - Fantazia - British Anthems mixed by Alister Whitehead - Part Two (1998)

1994 I discovered a club in Birmingham called WOBBLE. Anyway this is a mix of all the hands in the air tunes from that summer that for me defined my 1994 experience of Wobble. 
I've used a bit of artistic licence with the intro - Some may not agree with every tune choice, some of them may not be the most underground or 'credible' tunes but they were the dancefloor fodder that Phil Gifford and guest DJ's such as Chris & James, Luvdup, etc. were hammering that summer that defined my personal experience... and most of them still make me smile now....  enjoy!

561 - The Annual II - Disc 1 mixed by Pete Tong (1996)

Hey, Gareth here, I'm a graphic designer who start designing for clubs, parties, and labels in the late 90s. Back then, mix CDs were the holy grail of both design and music. I loved them.

But I wasn't the only one, mix cds were the soundtracks of our nights, our days, our afterparties and lives, for everyone. Yet in today's internet age, the art form has been lost (or just changed) to 2-3 hour online mixes and streaming videos, which just don't create the same magic your CD collection did. Just 60 minutes of music and incredible artwork.

The Classic Mix CD Series celebrates these discs, their soundtrack, their box art and your memories. We hope you enjoy it.
