Seeing as we haven't done a podcast since March I thought I'd put together some of my favourite tracks from this summer in a mega 3.5 hour summer compilation mix.  Perfect for celebrating the heat wave we should hopefully be having for the rest of August in London :)

Its my usual blend of dub techno, deep house, ambient, dubstep, I have been very lucky to be gifted with a few promo vinyls over the last few months so was nice to play these on my system.

I had such a headache getting this mix recorded.  I think it took over 1 week.  First few times I forgot to plug in my usb soundcard and ended up not recording anything!  2 other times i was recording and thought it was getting read in audacity but turned out it was just recording through my laptop microphone ><.  It has been the most stressful podcast i have recorded haha.  Also my laptop battery only lasts for 2 hours, so I have to stop half way through the mix and recharge the battery to continue the recording, hence why you can probably hear slight pitch changes in the mix -_-.

Hopefully its come out ok, there's a lot of good music in here, I hope you enjoy the journey.

"My musical foundations are rooted in AC/DC, Sabbath and Metallica and give rise to a love of 4/4 rhythm and the riff. From here they veered into where worlds collide – Pink Floyd met the Orb in a student dive and a love of electronica was born, encompassing pioneers such as Orbital, Leftfield et al through to UK D&B, taking in Kruder & Dorfmeister and the dub scene along the way.
The love affair however ended in the early nineties, I wasn’t feeling anything from electronica any more, but I knew the music I could hear in my mind must be out there - somewhere. My musical imaginations seemed to put all of the above aspects in place and was only discovered pre pandemic in the form of deep techno. This discovery so rekindled my love and excitement that I took the plunge into DJing - I wanted to take the music internally heard and create mixes to ease back to and soothe the soul. Voila. I hope you all get the same level of enjoyment from this mix, as I had creating it." - Morian.

While the powerful sun is dominating our days, challenging our flora and fauna with its ongoing heat, a new session has arrived here in our headquarter. The creator is none other then Secuencias Temporales chief Eafhm.

Eafhm is the result of a creative process which has seen different artistic and exploratory stages, aiming to further integrate oscillating interpersonal ideas among the variety of sound conceptions. The musical results of this evolution earned quite some respect in the scene for its unique deepness, organic texture and mind-travelling qualities. So no surprise that you can find his tracks not only on his own imprint Secuencias Temporales but also on well-known institutions like Experimental Label, Baox, Lett Records and Concepto Hinpnotico. Just shortly he had his first appearance on Charybdis together with his friend Noah Lyas.

The session you are about to hear is a handmade journey which will lead you directly into the star sparkled sky of a moonlit summer night or lets you connect with the warm vibe all beings are vibrating to in this sunny season.

The stage name is Qara, beyond that stands George Qarabaki, an artist from Kutaisi (Georgia).
He made his first steps as a DJ in 2015 and started his career in several clubs in Georgia and later at festivals too. 
His sets includes a style of hypnotic techno, but also often appeals to industrial and EBM sounds. Qara focused to express music harmonizes with the vibration of the mind and body. He never gives up on experiments. It makes sense in his every DJ sets or live performances.

He’s been active as a DJ and producer since 2006 and released his records mainly on Prologue Music, @semantica-records and @thegodsplanet, of which he is co-founder. Member of Basstation crew in Cagliari, from 2018 he’s resident DJ in one of Prague’s most valued clubs, @ankali, where he curates the Volumi Dinamici night. In 2020 he founded @012twelve, a new platform dedicated to art and sound research.

DJ and musician who fills the dance floor with the spirit of mysticism and harmony. The Svarog project began its existence in 2014, with a release on the Spanish label Circular limited. Since then, the artist has released a lot of music on top labels of the genre, such as Semantica, Dynamic Reflection, Affin, Nachtstrom Schallplatten and others. He performed in almost all countries of the continent, at famous venues and clubs.

Dear listeners, welcome to another XY experimental session, in this case, by Aiôn Lazura. 

He is a passionate producer of electronic music, mostly Ambient, Dub Techno, Down Tempo. Not stuck in a style in particular, his tracks reflect the flow of his life, sometimes evoking his vision of the future, sometimes just contemplating the present. This set is made of ambient, dub tec and hypnotic, rhythmed tracks and will try to help you enter this new autumn with a certain smooth force. It contains a new Aiôn's track going to be on the coming sub label of Indefinite Pitch, Ambient Matter.

Soliloqui / Concerti Per Cicale  (Soliloquies / Concerts For Cicadas) is a sound collage composed of environmental recordings, experiments with musical instruments and natural objects, excerpts from live performances, personal compositions and those of related artists that I have collected in recent months during my trips to Umbria. A land that has always evoked a complex feeling in me, a point in the intersection between the intimacy of being and the primitive nature of place.

In this microcosm are the tangle of thoughts that emerged from the hours spent in the car, the silent walks through the alleys of small and large towns, the sea of cicadas that inhabit its trees to the voices, more and less defined, of the people who dwell there.

Umbria is a journey, not a destination. And in the journey the boundary between looking and listening becomes intangible, revealing a path where what is voluntarily man-made dissolves into natural entropy.

CODECAST XY - I7HVN - Sublimation

Oi, i'm happy to share also here on SC my contribution to "Walk So Silently That the Bottoms of Your Feet Become Ears" curated by Gaia Ginevra Giorgi and Vittoria Assembri and broadcasted on Fango Radio. 

I've been a big fan of the series so finally releasing on it truly makes me happy, here's a small description of what has been the whole "lore" behind this live set/experimentation: 

This live set/jam/whatever, as notable from the title, consists of two macro-dimensions, which coexist and alternate like two voices in conversation: two souls that, at first, give each other space, and then merge into dense, kindred sound streams, losing and finding each other in a creative synthesis of a new narrative path.

On one hand, rain and wooden sounds emerge from recordings that, under the weight of the continuous rain dropping, resonate and arc in a continuous liquid beat. A silent crescendo of implicit nocturnal rituals, a dance that, between conscious and unconscious, invites to a real abandonment into sleep and the warm embrace of the bed.

On the other, dismembered voices, broken laughter and filtered sound signals, mixed in a sensory distortion, resonance and paint a small lake landscape. A lake, and in front of it, a city: stuck in time, as a symbol of a suspended civilization, an immobile place in an arzigogog of iron, marble and concrete.

Awe and melancholy merge, allowing a sense of latent malaise to emerge: a disease of the human. A pain that surfaces only when observed or remembered, and that finds relief in the constant return to meadows far from wet concrete, to depressions where roots tear up the soil, to small stone icons and endless carpets of chestnut leaves.

The path and cadence grow, evolve, into a choral paste. The music dissolves, becoming abstract desire: a song that recalls a distant world, a fragmented reflection, as if through a prism; an element that at the end of the tale, turns out to be a part of the inner being, destined to vanish in a sudden and final instant.

A quick moment, a loss of senses, a dismissal of one's nerves, a surrender to sleep. Everything fades into deep blackness, leaving room only for memory, a distant suggestion to be reckoned with, eyes wide open, the morning after.

Atoloi - Prima Di Dormire / Febbre In Una Città Di Lago (for W.S.S.T.T.B.O.Y.F.B.E)

Devotee to Soundscape Ecology and music researcher, @_atoloi is the main project of the Milan-based Matteo Ghiringhelli (1997), which explores sound through a mellow amalgam of layers of echoing synths, processed field recordings, and self-created samples; all mixed in a lysergic experience of heavy-grained noises and evocative instrumental compositions.

Not sticking only to club-oriented sonorities, instead, his productions and mixes search for other depths, in which the listener can get lost in a dense "no boundaries" journey between the worlds of dance and meditation.

In a career path alternating dance-focused releases and more intimate ambient/field recording explorations, his music space fluidly through variegated environments such as sweaty clubs or festivals and musicology-related performances in museums or deep listening dedicated spaces.

Catchy melodies embedded in well-structured arrangements and airy beats define his sound.   His influences stem from his youth where he was mesmerised by punk, metal and wave. Ben´s sound has been proven over and over again with recent Beatport Top 100's as well as support from some of the industries biggest artists like: Marco Carola, Laurent Garnier, Maceo Plex, Coyu, Oliver Koletzki,  Luciano, Dubfire & many more....

Where and how was the mix recorded? (AUS)

The mix was recorded here in sunny Bristol at my home studio, using cdjs, a 1210, my old mixer and a eventide space pedal. the version used ended up being take three as i felt the first two didn’t progress as i wanted. the mix has some old, new and exclusives. I wanted to play some bits that I love, re-found or have been working on, stuff i wouldn’t usually play in clubs although i do play some of that. I’ve really got into big textures, chugging drums and big heavy bass of late, I come from a Dubstep & D&B background so my tracks always have some nice low end. (Komon)

You've been working with Will for many years now, there seems to be a good synergy between the two of you when you're in the studio. Obviously you're coming from a different background (in terms of production) to Will, does that help when you're working together? (AUS)

Definitely, We both work off each other really. like we get into a vibe before we start a session, Play some tracks or ideas to each other and it kinda goes from there. We merged our kit so we share the studio space, its been set up so we can both jam and use fx or patch stuff into what ever we like. We have the same taste in sounds and a lot of styles of music. so jamming really flows and we can get a lot of material written in a short space of time. I tend to mix as we go, so we pretty much have the audio sounding as we want when recording. I do tweak whilst Will is away but thats just removing frequencies and tidying things up. We tend to write lots of parts for all our tracks and then we reduce them down to the final product, Will has a very good ear for this. After all this time working together we are yet to have a formula or set way we start something. We have quite a bit of kit between us and its nice to learn each piece, were still working things out. What other releases have you got lined up this year? (AUS)

Im just getting some things finished after having a pretty bad car accident where i seriously injured my spine. its been a long process getting back to full health but I’m pretty much there and ready to focus on music again. I have a remix for a new Label called Boogie Box, I think that one is due for release pretty soon. Will and I pretty much have another ep wrapped up and I’m almost there with a solo ep for Aus. Long term I’m working on an album but its early days so nothing set in stone. (Komon)
