Josep Berruezo, also known as Berru, is a devoted techno enthusiast. In 2012, he founded Estratechno, a collective that helped shape Barcelona’s underground scene through more than 30 club nights and free parties. He later curated Escapepodcast (2018), a genre-fluid radio show spotlighting emerging local talent.

As an artist, Dj Berru is deeply influenced by Detroit techno, but he also explores deeper and more hypnotic sounds that can range from ambient to breaks or even dub. He also performs as The Option B, a moniker under which he reviews the history of electronic music through acid-house, electro, jungle or synth-pop gems.


About the recording:
This set was recorded live at LAUT (Barcelona) last February during the first Selene series party. It was a special night for Dj Berru, a true fan of the project curated by his longtime friend and mentor, DOC, who was also playing along with Shoal.
When asked about the inspiration behind this set, Dj Berru is concise and clear:
'DOC has always taken a genreless approach to his mixes on Selene Series. I wanted to pay tribute to that by capturing the essence of the sounds he’s been showcasing all these years within 90 minutes. To keep it cohesive, I focused on the feeling these sounds evoke in me — a sense of daring, dark and psychedelic exploration.'

Josep Berruezo (Barcelona, 1988), also known as Berru, is an avid music listener and techno enthusiast. He founded Estratechno in 2012,  a collective that helped shape the underground techno scene in Barcelona during the early 2010s by organizing more than 30 club events and free parties. He also curated Escapepodcast in 2018, a genreless radio show that aired every other weekend to showcase local young talent.

The Catalan artist has two artistic façades: Dj Berru and The Option B. 

Here’s what to expect from Dj Berru: Dark machine-made music for the dance floor. Deeply influenced by Detroit techno, but also exploring deeper and more hypnotic sounds that can range from ambient to breaks or even dub, Dj Berru always tries to orchestrate a psychedelic experience for his audience when crafting his sets.

Having Barcelona’s Nitsa scene and Sideral’s sessions as his main references, The Option B consists of a colourful and synthetic selection that reviews the history of electronic music through acid-house, electro, jungle or synth-pop gems.

Behind these two monikers, Berru has played at clubs such as LAUT, Razzmatazz, BeCool or Estraperlo. He has also performed at Festival’Era, Era Electrònica and Techno Trippin’ Festival.

Electronic musician, sound designer and audio-visual composer from Izhevsk, Russia (born 1981). 

Veteran of the Russian electronic scene, who started his career in 1994. Known for his experiments with psychedelic techno, IDM, ambient and braindance, as well as his work in psytrance, electro and techno styles. 

Over his long creative history Spacehealer has formed several electronic bands including Charging Systems, Ufo United, Mel-O-Maniacs, Spacehealers, The Cyberians feat MAHAON and Rumi, Electrodynamique.

In 1996 he joined the founders of the electronic label Izhitsa, which released the classic album “Pechki i Pochen” by the artist Compass Vrubel, which became a landmark work of Russian techno-electronics. 

In 2014 he joined the label EMC (Electro Music Coalition), where he codifies “electro vibrations”. EMC is one of the key electronic labels in Russia.
