Filippa Bernander is an up and coming DJ from Gothenburg. She has only been DJ’ing a couple years but has already earned regular slots at Gothenburg underground club Obalans, as a resident. Short interview with Filippa: 

Background/the start:
"I started listening to electronic music about 10 years ago and since then it has just evolved more and more towards techno. I went to my first rave in Stockholm in 2013 and after that I became very curious about the underground scene. I went to different parties, often by myself, just to listen to DJ’s I hadn’t heard before and to discover a new world of music, free from distractions. Quite fast I discovered how broad the spectrum of electronic music could be and I was very inspired from being able to feel such deep emotions that I hadn’t felt before, through listening to deep techno.

2018 I decided to start learning how to DJ myself, so I went out and bought my first CDJ’s and it was the best thing I have done for myself! I realized that I now dared to express my emotions through music, which I hadn’t been able to express before. So playing deep techno has been a form of therapy for me and has made me feel good again and feel peace within myself."

Inspiration:
"I am an emotional and creative person and I easily see details in life. That is something I use when I build my sets and I want to convey a sort of journey where the listener might recognize oneself. I choose my tracks based on my emotions and I am inspired by nature and dreams. I am also inspired by listening to different styles and sub-genres and try to blend them in to my sets to create something new. I am into the driving, darker techno with elements of the melodic, hypnotic and bass-focused styles."

Artist situation:
"I live in Gothenburg, Sweden and I am resident since a year a underground club OBALANS. Since the restrictions have been lightened a bit this summer i have had the pleasure to play at 2 open airs. And now when society is opening up I am looking forward to playing at club again! In the meanwhile I spend my time creating mixes that I post on my soundcloud."

We are happy to present you a new guest mix , from abstraction record label boss, maestro Hioll!

 Hioll has become one of the main influences within the rising cuban Electronic Music scene. Born and raised in La Habana (Havana) and carrying from the beginning, with humility, the flag of Cuban Techno. Supporting new age talented cuban artists by abstraction record label, he gave cuban scene a worldwide recognition. 

Established Abstraction (@abstractionrecordlabel) in 2017, the first electronic music label ever in Cuba’s history and which is dedicated to showing the most outstanding talents from the island. But that has subsequently evolved to welcome new international artists and, as such, become a widely supported source of dance-floor cuts. 

As a producer, Hioll's tracks exist in a powerful climax, which looks simultaneously from the most daring and strange hypnotic Techno to the most bizarre and industrial. He has many successful releases in respected and well known labels, being played and supported by big industry names. 

This suggests a versatile artist with a strong personality, capable of generating rich and truly unique ideas and, eventually, translating them into a varied context of unprecedented sound experiences.  

He recently released his ‘’ Velvet Revolution LP ‘’ from  abstraction record label. "Velvet Revolution LP" is a Techno album purely intended to be used in DJ sets at clubs and raves. Denotes an industrial sound but at the same time drinks from other sources of influence. The LP, which taking the groove as a flag and adding adjacent elements, already got so many support from big names of the scene worldwide!  

This time Hioll gives us a mix that filled with stories, blended with his unique style , deep, hypnotic and lndustrial cuts at a certain groove!

Franco De lafore known as Delafore is a young argentinian artist from Buenos Aires. Stressful Environment contributes to that persona. It is a fierce composition of peak time tracks, that at times hint towards industrial, while preserving a certain melancholy. It is largely this combination that makes these tracks complement each other so well. The muscular foundation gives them their power; an enlightening fragility keeps them from becoming mere stompers. With that, Violent has put together an impressive piece of contemporary techno that will most likely see the inside of many clubs in the months to come. The ‘Stressful Environment EP’ is bound to make the name Violent stick around for a while.

CODECAST X - Miroir - Emotional Alchemy

For this new episode of our codecast selections, we'd like to give a warm welcome to Chuha.

Chuha hails from the south of Munich and has been on a journey of musical exploration since 1998. He kicked off his career as a DJ in 2004 playing at countless gigs in and around Europe and India. His initial years in the Psytrance genre lead him to his love for deep, hypnotic, subtle and euphoric nuances of Techno. He is also the founder of Fur:ther Sessions pushing boundaries of Techno supporting local and international artists. Chuha is also a resident of the Netzwerk rooster from Munich.
He's also one of the founders of the Fur:ther sessions collective.
