The Smiths  est un groupe anglais de rock créé à Manchester en 1982 par Morrissey, chanteur et parolier, et Johnny Marr en tant que compositeur et guitariste. Le duo fut ensuite rejoint par Mike Joyce à la batterie et Andy Rourke, mort le 19 mai 2023, à la basse. Le groupe se sépare en 1987.
