A label that I've been meaning to do a deep dive on for some time, finally got the chance to sort my records and CDs and start a 2 part look at the awesome, forward thinking and downright jazzy New Identity Records! A Formation label started in 1996 by DJ SS, the label is still going today with a look at the deeper, jazzier, off the wall style of D&B.

Thumpa - The Sound Of New Identity Part 1 (Formation sub label)

Here's part 1 of my deep dive into one of my favourite D&B labels of all time, Back 2 Basics! Set up by JB aka Jason Ball in 1993, the label would run to 2008 with nearly 100 vinyl releases and more albums, mix CDs etc. Being a midlands lad myself I have grown up with this label and bought everything I could 96 onwards. 

The label released music from JB, Spice, Dred Bass, Twisted Individual, Decoder, Ascend, Ned Ryder and loads more and was a really important part of my teenage years as a DJ and raver! Enjoy this look into their 94/95 releases...
