Apparel Music Radio show is happy to present a new artist, Billy Jackson aka DJ Bubbles from South-Africa (Pretoria).
https://soundcloud.com/billy-jackson musical career can be traced back to an early enthralment with 70’s Soul/Disco, Funk, World Music, Hip Hop and heavy doses of Jazz. Recollections of the first encounter with the gentle twirl of the gramophone are imprinted in his technique; the texture of wax indelible in his signature brews of nostalgic homage and futuristic ventures. The allure of dusty crates deeply influenced his intuitive ear and probably explains his effortless concoctions of genres in their multiplicity. 
His renowned kaleidoscopes of Funk, Soulful House and Afro-beat, infused with sprinklings of Dub and Electronica sway hips and bump heads on dance floors, stereos and cyber space. Under Bubbles’ meticulous instruction genres fuse and overlap, each a robust vertebra of an ever-malleable spine, bending, writhing and straightening to the guttural tunes of protest music. 
He gained his reputation as ‘the go to guy when you want that heat’ as a Sales Consultant at Flipside Records (which he later managed) in the late 1990s. During his time at Flipside Records he mixed the acclaimed Flipside House Vol. 2 and oversaw the release of Flipside House Vol. 3 mixed by DJ Koti. He has since churned out a steady stream of compelling compilations for the now defunct USM Records and an array of scrumptious mixes for Organik Soul to be found at organiksoul.blogspot.com. 
DJ Bubbles was an instrumental part of the budding Deep House movement of the early 2000s which have its roots in Pretoria . His acclaimed compilations have won him residencies and guest appearances in and around South Africa at reputable establishments including Zwakala Jazz Café, Mushroom Loungeatery (Sunnyside) and Cool Runnings (Pretoria); Lucky Bean (Melville), Bassline (Newtown), Kitchener’s Carvery Bar (Braamfontein), Capitol Lounge (Rosebank); DnE (Port Elizabeth), House of Blues (Gaborone) and Bucannan Square (Cape Town). He is also a sought after event DJ who ceaselessly captivated an assortment of crowds at events including the Oppikoppi Tuks RAG in 2001 and 2003, the African Film summit, the Backstage AIDS Benefit Concert (2006) and shared the stage with formidable guitarist Madala Kunene at the 2012 Africa Day Festival."

Berlin's Oliver Dollar broke through big time in 2014 with 'Pushing On', co produced with Jimi Jules. He's built a reputation for quality with releases on Jesse Rose's Made To Play and Play It Down labels. The pair have also formed a formidable DJ partnership and have just released a compilation together called 'Community'. After three groundbreaking albums as Hercules & Love Affair, Andy Butler – the driving force behind the retro-futurist disco house kingpins – releases his debut solo EP on February 23rd.  

The EP features two tracks and is released on mr.intl - Butler’s own label.  Leading with You Can Shine - hard-hitting techno-soul and showcasing the impassioned vocals of rising NYC star Richard Kennedy, it’s backed with Personality Track, a whiplashing techy instrumental pounder. 

“Hercules has a collaborative, collective approach," Andy explains, "People who enjoy Hercules anticipate uplifting, vocal-orientated, disco-influenced music, something nuanced and quite musical, a proper listening experience. 'Shine' goes for a more direct approach, a stomping, uplifting club 12" but it's me, isn't it, so it will still have something of Hercules about it."

"I wanted to tap into the gospel tradition, for there to be a testifying quality to the record,” he continues. “Richard and I talk in the lyrics about putting ego aside and allowing people around you to shine. You shine when you acknowledge other people's shine, even, if you will, the creator's shine. I hope we've created something new. House is often soulful but you very rarely hear a big gospel-inflected voice paired with booming, doomy techno."

'You Can Shine' follows an incredible year for Hercules & Love Affair. Their third album 'The Feast of the Broken Heart', was released to exceptional global critical acclaim and the collective embarked on an extensive worldwide tour. A tougher, more electronic body of work than its predecessors, ‘The Feast Of The Broken Heart’ hinted at the direction in which Andy's solo material was heading.

mr.intl was launched in 2009, prompted by Andy’s travels around the world and a “fascination for regional music. I wanted to start releasing music on a global level, offering a representation of amazing music that's happening elsewhere."  Butler has accrued a wealth of new talent and lost underground classics for forthcoming release on the label. The roster includes DJs and producers from Vienna, Australia, Brazil and Iceland, the latter a band called Sisi Ey who are already making waves.  In addition to his own material, he'll be re-releasing lost classics from the acid house and Belgian New Beat eras.

In addition to live appearances with Hercules & Love Affair, Butler continues to criss-cross the globe with DJ dates in Chile, USA, Canada, Mexico and the UK in the coming months.

Andy Butler - You Can Shine [feat Richard Kennedy]

With the next Toi Toi takeover for Room Three just a few sleeps away, today we're feeling privileged to be able to present a new and exclusive mix from a key member of the crew, Audio Werner.

This is a bit of a coup for us; the promo mix we're presenting today from Werner is a very rare thing indeed. To date the Hartchef Discos founder has only has only released two other podcasts on the spindled servers of the interweb over the last five years so, for us at least, this 60 minute selection carries an extra bit of weight of significance. Perhaps best known for his live sets over recent years (a craft that he is pretty advanced at as evident in his <a href="http://www.fabriclondon.com/blog/view/toi-toi-takeover-audio-werners-equipment-guide" target="_blank">equipment guide</a> from 2013), Audio Werner has actually been very much a prolific record collector and DJ since the ‘90s wielding a historical knowledge of four four cuts that he calls upon each time he takes to the decks. 

Right from the opening track this mix provides a listening experience that is at once engaging and yet frenetically playful. It's a pretty exciting pre-cursor to show exactly the kind of dancefloor experience Werner will be bringing alongside his Toi Toi cohorts Voigtmann, Lamache and Andrew J Gustav this coming weekend...

It’s people like Mano Le Tough who make DJing into an art form, as you can tell from the mix he has done for us ahead of our festival in São Paolo this weekend. The connection he makes with dance floors are always as deep as can be; with a real sense of melody, emotion and song like structure, he crafts sets that make a lasting impact on those who hear them. This has resulted in him being one of the busiest DJs on the circuit, on a par with deep house heroes Ame and Dixon, who he plays with regularly. As a producer, his smooth and mellifluous sounds land on labels like Permanent Vacation and more recently Pampa, which is a perfect fit for his curious sense of melody.  

This week’s mix is an hour of deep house that rumbles through a humid jungle, zones you out with hypnotic vocal tracks and encourages you to day dream amongst distant pads. Even when things turn more towards a techno groove later on, you still remain deeply entrenched in the groove, marching on through to a trippy climax that gently stirs you out of your hypnosis with a real celestial charm.

Born in Belgium in Liège and in love with music since always, it is around the age of 15 years old that ANouch discovered the techno music of Jeff Mills, Sven Väth or DJ Rush among others…
A lot of others musical styles arrived soon and influenced her tastes (with Daft Punk, Miss Kittin, The Hacker, Vitalic, Birdy Nam Nam…).
But it is only years after, end of 2015 that she decided to start deejaying.Things fell into place on the dancefloor of the clubs in Basel in Switzerland. In love with vinyls, it is naturally this support that she choosed first to play. Her musical style is a mix of Deep House, Tech House, Deep Techno and Minimal Techno.
Since beginning of 2017 she starts to play first in clubs in Basel then in Ticino, Germany, France and Belgium.
