Stabilizer

Some sax put through a distortion amp and some more sax in echo and reverb chambers, spurt some it through a synth, add some heavy bass, a dash of drone and a slow heavy kick beat. 

Throw in a tambourine, and it all comes spilling out in a sinful mess.

Apart from the bass, drums and tambourine, all the other sound is made out of saxophone.

It sounds like you shouldn't do this kind of thing to a sax. But I like it. And I should probably be ashamed of myself!

The track addresses the concept of the overwhelming bleakness facing humanity, with the firm belief that the planet will one day fight back and overcome the mess we have made of it. 

Mort Garson meets 8bit over a heavy dub sound system to accompany a set of songs written by a late night torch singer.

This is Mark on guitar, Lee on drums, and myself on piano and organ (the bass was always addressed in the studio once the basic track was down, which is why it doesn't feature here).

Tyneside Sounds Society invited producers to create something new using only the audio from a digitisation of a 1/4" analogue tape recording by BBC of the first time Newcastle Civic Centre Carillon Bells were played publicly on 1st December 1967

The tape was digitised by Tyne & Wear Archives as part of the national Unlocking Our Sounds Heritage project led by the British Library.
