His genome, sequenced in 2013, revealed groundbreaking insights into human migration: the boy belonged to a population known as Ancient North Eurasians, genetically intermediate between modern Europeans and Native Americans, but distant from East Asians—suggesting early waves of people crossed the Bering land bridge from Siberia to populate the Americas, while others spread westward into Europe. The lyrics frame this as a "ghost in the genome," a silenced voice thawed by science, emphasizing how DNA preserves stories of migration, survival, and shared heritage that echo through time.
At its core, the track celebrates the resilience of human lineage amid ice-age isolation and loss. The verses rap about "dig[ging] through the code, deep under the ice" and "tribes spl[itting] north, and the fire went west," evoking the boy's burial in a cultural context of mammoth ivory artifacts and symbolic art from the Mal’ta–Buret' culture.
