エピソード– 「永遠は翼を与える」

足音がクインティノ学園（がくえん）の長い白い廊下に響き渡る。その壁には、まるで永遠の大理石に刻まれたかのような物語が宿っていた。非の打ちどころのない制服に身を包み、柔道（じゅうどう）、ムエタイ、柔術（じゅうじゅつ）の金メダルを克服の象徴のように響かせながら、マイヤーは自らの深淵（しんえん）を生き延びた者の毅然（きぜん）とした姿勢で歩いていた。

しかし、ターテンの影が完全に消え去ることはなかった。

国家選抜（こっかせんばつ）の最優秀生徒（さいゆうしゅうせいと）として合格した後の日々、マイヤーは静かな闇と戦っていた——叫ばず、攻撃せず、ただ囁きかける闇と。

「彼はまた試みるでしょう…」 エピソード4で、あの黒い花の野原（のはら）で消える前に、アヤメが最後の記憶の中で囁いた言葉だった。

そして、その通りになった。

誕生日の夜
違うはずだった。パティはすべてを準備していた：マイヤーが大好きだった、チョコレートケーキに練乳（れんにゅう）のフィリングといちごのかけらを添えて。
しかし、オーラが…変わった。

冷気（れいき）が壁を這い上がった。風もないのに蝋燭（ろうそく）が揺れた。
そして彼が現れた。

ターテン。

黒いコートをまとい、窪（くぼ）んだ目、毒のように甘い声で、彼は何も言う必要はなかった。彼の存在自体が、すでに傷つけるのに十分だった。
「ただ誕生日おめでとうって言いたいだけだよ、マイヤー…それだけさ…」

しかし、今や全てを理解していたパティは、躊躇（ちゅうちょ）しなかった。彼女は前に立ち、燃えるような目で言った：
「あなたは彼の誕生日を一つ奪った。あなたは彼を空っぽにした。あなたは二度と彼に触れさせない。」

そして、対決が始まった。

パティ vs ターテン
周囲の空気が砕けた。マイヤーは介入しようとし、涙ながらに止めるよう叫んだ。しかし、二人はすでに恨（うら）みの戦争の中に迷い込んでいた。

パティは記憶、痛み、トラウマを呼び起こし、それらを鋭い刃（やいば）のようにターテンに投げつけた。

家の床が割れ、そこから過去の歪（ゆが）んだイメージが芽生えた：暗い部屋、壊れたケーキ、壊されたつるはし…

ターテンは泣いた。

しかし、パティは容赦（ようしゃ）しなかった。
「あなたは彼の中の最悪の部分。あなたは決して兄弟なんかじゃなかった。あなたは厄災（やくさい）よ。彼はあなたを必要としていない。」

一つの仕草で、彼女は彼を追放した。

ミルク次元（再開）
数日後、空っぽで引き裂かれたマイヤーは、クインティノ学園の規則を破った。秘密裏に、彼はミルク次元を再び開いた。そこでは、その歪んだ次元の液体（えきたい）の壁に、まだ闇の反響（はんきょう）が振動していた。

そこで、彼はターテンを見つけた。縮こまり、彼らのつるはしの穢（けが）れたレプリカ——兄弟愛（きょうだいあい）と破壊（はかい）の象徴（しょうちょう）——を握りしめていた。

最後の一撃で、マイヤーはターテンのつるはしを真っ二つに折った。そしてそれと共に、まだ存在していた闇の絆（きずな）も。

ターテンは逃げた。敗北し。泣きながら。しかし、消える前に、警告を投げかけた：
「いつか…誰もがお前に背（せ）を向けたとき、マイヤー…俺はそこにいるだろう。俺はお前の影だ。そして影は消えない。待っているんだ。」

マイヤーの決断
パティは彼を受け入れた。まだ怒りに満ち、まだ心が傷ついたままで。
「彼には家族がいるのよ。あなたが彼にとってそうである必要はない。彼なんて消えればいい。」

しかし、マイヤーは答えなかった。彼は濡れた目で虚空（こくう）を見つめ、言った：
「彼を消したからって、僕が癒（い）えるわけじゃない。彼が何だったのか…僕の中にいた彼を、理解する必要があるんだ。」

そして、クインティノ学園の寮（りょう）に戻ると、彼は壁に三つの言葉を書いた：

なぜなら、今、彼は知っていたからだ。
