Strangers For Love is a solo band project by Alessio Di Mezza, also known as Religius Order. He sings, plays guitar and programs a bunch of synthesizers and drum machines, all in his home studio in Frosinone, Italy. The 7" is the first physical release and forms a connection between the past and the present where all his influences from punk over shoegaze to dark wave come together. While the A-side takes you on a melancholic and in hall flooded journey of self-discovery in which nothing seems to matter, the B-side lives from screaming guitars and vocals that will bring you back to the here and now. An emotional and weird trip from hate to love and just the vehicle to write your own journey.

Das Ding - Animated Suspension [MTRONW007]

Everything leant on tonight going well; the whole course of her life as she'd frequently been explaining to anybody who'd listen. Years and years of preparation had gone into the event, and should it be a success, her reputation would skyrocket. If it failed, however, then it would all have been for nothing. But she couldn't let those intrusive thoughts take hold, from here forward positivity and optimism would be her only friends.

Release number 30 on Chloé's Lumière Noire imprint brings together Gomma and Eskimo producer Rodion and Coméme and Huntleys & Palmers alumni Alejandro Paz for Esta Noche, three tracks matching Latinx sounds and new wave influences. Both classicaly trained musicians, the pair struck up a friendship after meeting in Ciudad de México, bonding over a shared love of romantic music and harmony. This led to a partnership in the studio, where they crafted and arranged this collection of dark, hazy and dramatic rhythms, one of which gets the rework treatment on the flip from Slow Motion boss Fabrizio Mammarella.

One of my hands-down favorite electro labels is Berlin's mighty @mechatronicamusic, a label and party collective run by @mejle, @electrodon, @milanhermess and @daribone, so I've put together a mix of a track each from (almost!) the first twenty releases (I didn't include number 19 because it's not really my thing - sorry!), covering their powerful electro sound that draws from artists across Europe.

Mejle Interview

The Mechatronica Story (A journey through the Berlin electro label's catalogue)

The inimitable Secret Fusion label serves up more left of center electronic music in October, this time from
the innovative Sobek, with vital remixes from Musumeci, Bawrut and SouveQ.

For the last three years, Budapest based artist Sobek has been crafting a unique take on house and techno. Whether it be deconstructing glossy, polished originals with his unrivalled remixing talent, or days spent in the studio creating innovative and thought provoking original music across many sub genres, his sound has no boundaries. Monaberry, Chapter 24, TAU and Moblack have all put out his music and as well as having support from DJs like Black Coffee and Pete Tong, he also runs his own influential party series in his home city.

Things kick off in fine fashion with ‘Geiling Agent,’ a superb seven-minute cosmic house trip. It is built on broken kicks and with lush, far sighted arps bringing a feeling of real expansiveness. The thrilling ‘Mr Vibe’ is one to lock you in a trance with its bright, sustained chords and rolling drums. Haunting vocals slowly drift into ear shot to keep you locked as the melodies take over.

First to remix ‘Geiling Agent’ is Musumeci, a project by Mauro Di Martino, a Sicilian DJ and producer since the late 80s with releases on Innervisions and Connaisseur Recordings. There is plenty of class and retro-future style in his stomping, synth laden disco rework, which is full of colour and energy.
Madrid based Bawrut, who has released on Life And Death this year and had high level DJ support, then brings a wide range of influences to his remix of ‘Mr Vibe’. It is a gorgeous track with punchy, slick deep techno drums and soulful chords that bring warmth and futurism.

Secret Fusion label manager SouveQ is a long standing DJ and producer who has a string of successful collaborative projects under his belt and mixes up nu-wave, disco and techno. Here he goes for a drilling beat and celestial chords that are layered up in seductive ways with plenty of sci-fi details.

Geistform, also known as Raffael Espinosa, is the producer behind Pi Electronics record number 10.

After almost three decades of music making, he delivers a 5 track-EP fusing influences from techno, electro and '90s IDM. Four of the tracks can be found in the vinyl edition, while the 5th is a Bandcamp digital exclusive.

Listen now to Geistform's multifaceted characteristic production style: from breakbeat informed dark percussion and his unique 'radioactive' riffs, to his very own Detroit techno drive, dressed in rhythmic noise aesthetics. Berlin-based record label @ygam prepare to drop their tenth release in the form of a 4-track EP from French producer @catartsis.

First day on the job and he'd been thrown in at the deep end. Left to his own devices to figure out the what's and the hows. Perhaps he'd over egged himself on the job application a little; he might not have got the role had he not. Perplexed, he hovered over the control desk looking at the vast array of buttons and knobs before him. Trial and error it would have to be.

Mexico City's Demian Lera is the man behind Pro.tone who, following previous outings on the likes of Jelly Bean Farm, Simply Deep and Sapyens, now makes his debut on Dissident Sound. Zero Day Attack's four tracks bring together elements of UK Techno and leftfield bass, using chopped up vocals, off-kilter sounds and rolling grooves to create a fresh, innovative take on the underground UK sound.
