Temple of Boom Mixtape

This is one of my sets from The Spirit Stage at Tall Tree Music Festival 2017. I chronologically(as best as possible)arranged the mix to start in 1973, the day hip hop was born at 1520 Sedgwick Ave in the Bronx when Kool Herc revolutionized DJ'ing, all the way up, decade by decade until today. Keep in mind it was only an hour so I jammed all of the songs I deemed as pivotal in the evolution of hip hop. Enjoy, hit like, share the hell outta it if you dig it. Bristol beatmaker hot shots The Allergies are well known across the world for their ability to dig through a crate, extract pure musical gold from the wax and rock a party like no other.

In one of our weekly yoga/wellbeing/group therapy/meditation workshop sessions here at the label it got us thinking what they could dig up if we opened up the Jalapeno vaults for them… Over 250 official releases with more funk than George Clinton’s dirty laundry, more soul than a sock with a hole and more dance than carnival time in Rio.

And so the brand new ‘Dig Jalapeno’ compilation series concept was born - unlimited artist access to the entire back catalogue for them to put together a killer set of tracks accompanied with a couple of new exclusives from them for good measure.

Needless to say the guys knocked it out of the park with their choices – a strong showing from their Bristol B-Boy crew - Boca45, Parker, The Beekeepers and of course some choice cuts from the likes of Soopasoul and Skeewiff. Throw in a never heard before track from themselves – ‘You Got Power’ and an exclusive new remix of their own 'Blast Off (feat. Andy Cooper)' and we’ve got ourselves a belter of a set. Growing up on mainly hip hop, Preedy attended his first Shambhala in 2008 and had his world changed with the vast varieties of electronic music. After bouncing around the west coast of BC and  the West Kootenay area he has honed his skills and landed back in Rossland, BC. Having the pleasure to open up for such acts as Stickybuds, theFunkhunters, Featurecast, Wood n 'Soo, Bryx, Neon Steve, Mat the Alien and Skratch Bastid to name a few. Blending genres of Glitch Hop, Ghetto Funk, and Hip Hop are his main forte but is a fan of all genres and can be known to play anything at anytime.

The Funkee Wadd, born of an extraordinary man deemed Montgomery, and an angelic being by the name Of Mary-Helen, he has come to the western coast of British Columbia to bring one thing, and one thing only, Bass. With a focus on the funk and breaks, he is no stranger to elevating a dance floor with the likes of jungle, fist pumping electro, sexy jacking house, soulful bass music, the glitchiest of glitch hop and anything else that may cause a booty popping effect or head banging tendencies. The Funkee Wadd has had the privilege of sharing the stage with many acts such as The Funk Hunters, Stickybuds, Mat The Alien, JFB, Souls Of Mischief, Slynk, A Skillz, SkiiTour, Father Funk, WBBL, Featurecast, and many, many other talented individuals. For the past couple years, The Funkee Wadd headed to England to play the Ghetto Funk Shindig Weekender, as well as perform at many festivals around Alberta and BC, such as Centre Of Gravity, Electric Love Music Festival, Tall Tree Music Festival, Astral Harvest, Shambhala, Atmosphere, Cumberland Wild and many more.
