El productor chileno Waxuma nos presenta su primer EP, "Changó". Hecho a partir de grabaciones propias de algunos instrumentos como trompe, congas y cuerdas, es el resultado de la mezcla de los sonidos que vibran en él. Inspirado en los ritmos Yoruba y la multiculturalidad sonora, Waxuma compone en un proceso casi ritual, en un espacio y tiempo desapegado de lo cotidiano, entrando a su propio inconsciente. Se encuentran instinto más conocimiento hasta que florece la idea.

Ovni Guarajé is no ordinary electronic tropical music group. It´s a mission, It’s a spaceship which makes the feet move fusing rhythms and cultures, savouring Cumbia, connecting with the Sun and the stars. In Madrid and the rest of the world let it be known that there is ancestral wealth of Amerindian and of African descent.

The main intention of this edit series is to expand music culture approaching this world music and folklore to another styles where they can be introduced in dj sets and get discovered by new audiences. This is a chance for people to get in touch with artists that otherwise they wouldn't discovered and the first step to dig into their musics, their cultures and their lives.

1) Tell us a bit about yourself and your record collection.

I'm Scarlett O'Malley born and raised in West London and I'm a DJ, presenter and I run my own soul imprint called The Soul Exchange. My record collection is about 1000/2000 strong and is made up predominantly of soul music, then a real mish mash of 50s doo-wop and rockabilly, disco, latin, house and old skool garage. My collection is also 95% 45s.

2) 45/7 is all about celebrating the 7". Can you tell us a bit about what you love about the format.

I have always bought and collected 45s just because it was the format the tunes I wanted to buy were in. They're cute, small and can be really expensive, just like me :)

3) One hour of vinyl goodness... can you talk us through your selection for your 45/7 mix?

This mix is an hour of swoony, romantic, heart-wrenching 50s doo-wop, the PERFECT mix for this time of year. The mix includes tunes from my favourite artist of ALL TIME Jackie Wilson, to The Spaniels, the man Elvis, to Etta James and so, so, so many more. A real swirl of dreamy laid back tunes fused with a little rock 'n' and R&B.
