And so we set foot in the new year. It is becoming.

For us 2016 was paving the way. Taking out everything that was needed to set us on the path of The Gardens of Babylon. The following 2017 brought happiness and joy. Crossing paths with beautiful souls, sharing moments with incredible beings and listening to sounds of the star children from another galaxy. But still, like a ship that is about to reach the shore we knew we were only setting the first steps in to the new world.

Time to continue our journey. To explore new life and new opportunities together with our family.

To start this new year with revelations instead of resolutions, we asked some artists very close to us to create a podcast for you. So sit back and enjoy, because we will share one masterpiece after the other in the following days.

We'd like to present to you our next release from a rising talent known to the world as Onez!e who resides in Ontario, Canada. This producer has made his mark on labels such as OLD SQL Recordings & Green Martian thanks to the variety in which his productions come in. From enticing techno vibes that'll have the room hooked onto the rhythmic sounds to innovative, soothing melodic progressive house, which is exactly what he is bringing to Perplexity Music with this sensational release. 

There's something about the darkness of the world that pulls us all into a state of wonder, fascination & calmness. Something about not being able to see exactly what lies ahead & that is exactly the kind of presentiment of this elaborate production titled "Parallels" brings. Right from the moment this spectacular original starts, it draws you in with the pulsing thuds of the percussions wrapped around a strong, crisp bass that cuts through the air effortlessly, almost like a warning for whatever the listener is contemplating at that moment. As the production builds, the stark, emotion inducing melodic line starts to form around and the effect of that is sheer breathlessness at how stunning it sounds. A well thought out structure of the melodic components, you can feel each layer and the way it all is incorporated together so perfectly, giving it that mystifying & dubious ambience. It is pure brilliance at how it slowly comes to be like a landmark monument being built 

This electrifying release comes packed with 3 extraordinary remixes from some huge names that are on top of their game when it comes to anything they touch. The first is from the proficient Russia based Eddie Bitz who has certainly made an impact on the scene with his infectious, edgy & addictive sounds. He takes the foreboding original & adds a more steady, synth based formation that indulges more on those luscious kicks, groovy bass sounds & captivating build up that explodes into a blossom of all these wonderful elements joined in unison. Like parallel lines that always meet but never touch, the sentiments of how we as people can be afraid to delve into our darker side yet happily view it from a distance is reiterated in this track that makes us think, when do we cross that line., the sentiments of how we as people can be afraid to delve into our darker side yet happily view it from a distance is reiterated in this track that makes us think, when do we cross that line.

Last but not least, to complete this amazing release and to end a remarkable line of remixes, it's the Brit based producer responsible for a superlative line of productions that are etched into our playlist, that’s right, its D05. Completing such a variety filled package, he practically strips down the original to create this marvelous, relaxed remix that has an attractive way of building up the tension with the slow rising introduction of each sound. From the minimal percussions, to the steady but light bass, the prominent synth sounds that he is renowned for make an appearance in the form of delicate yet melodic lines. This lovely production is definitely vibrant, punchy & leaves a reeling effect of being surrounded by angelic movements, all depicted in such a way that you cant help but want more. 

We hope you all enjoy this work of art from all these dedicated producers that once again show their talents & energy in the music they make. Flying under his STERAC Electronics alias, Amsterdam legend Steve Rachmad provides an exclusive mix of stellar 80's disco tunes. Hardly needing introduction, Steve has been responsible for classics such as the essential '95 release 'Secret Life of Machines', and has worked under labels like Klockworks, Delsin, Mote Evolver and more under a slew of aliases.

Often whirling around the grooves of Detroit techno, Rachmad is a producer, remixer and DJ, regarded by many as a champion of the genre within the Netherlands. Though his DJ sets are constantly evolving, he remains inspired by high quality disco, dub and electro from the early days.

When his birth name is on the bill, it can be anything from planet Rachmad; a realm best explored by listening to one of his extended Panoramabar sets or in the former renowned Amsterdam club Studio 80. Though one of many, Steve's STERAC Electronics alias has found him releasing classics on labels such as Tresor and M-Planet, and performing around the globe including Sterac Electronics sets at last year's Dekmantel and the Shoeless weekender at Ruigoord - a rave in a small chapel. But, regardless of place or name, Steve's gift for blending warm drum machines and synthesizers is unparalleled, and shall not go unnoticed after experiencing this mix.

Making his waves in the house and techno field is UK based Montel, who provides an exclusive mixtape of tunes.

Alongside his mixing as a DJ, Montel's productions have featured on esteemed House labels such as Knee Deep In Sound, Stereo Productions, Lost, Madtech, Avotre, Lapsus and Resonance. His releases have been championed by top flight DJs such as Richy Ahmed, Sidney Charles, Hot Since 82, Hector Couto, Sante, wAFF and many more.

More recently though, Montel’s techno output has seen him step up to a new level. One of his best selling tracks ‘At Night’, has been a main stay in the club sets of John Digweed, Carl Cox and many other of the Techno elite this year. Following this came his ‘Within’ track, which was swiftly picked up by Anja Schneider and her Mobilee Records off shoot ‘Leena Music’.

In anticipation to her performance on the Summer Stage at Summerpark, Defected Records veteran Sam Divine provides a special podcast to reinvigorate the title 'DJ under the sun'.

Based in the UK, Sam Divine originally emerged out of the Bristol club circuit with her trainspotter-knowledge of house. She's since performed at renowned festivals and venues such as We Are FSTVL, Pacha Festival, and a 3-year residency at Ushuaia Ibiza, all the while running her 'timeless-house' label D-Vine Sounds. As an artist, she utilizes aesthetics such as 80s Motown samples and shady vocal dubs to create escapist house cuts which allow the 9-5 jobber to safely parachute into a humbled vibe.

Kicking off the July festival season is Summerpark Festival, which invites artists such as Julian Jordan, Franky Rizardo, Lucas & Steve, Sandrien, ROD, Prunk, Sam Divine herself, and many more. The festival will host a total of four stages, each with their own aesthetic and sound.  With at least a 15,000 person capacity, the festival will attract ravers from all over the Netherlands to enjoy a variety of music, lush green grass for a relaxation ground, and plenty of beach-side idiosyncrasies.

After our first connection many universal roads were working on flourishing our friendship. Friends, music, even his magical wife, all of them brought us closer together. And soon we can finally work on our first show.

"It was last year that I got introduced to fox. I was on my way to Burning Man and the travel from Amsterdam had been so exhausting that I had fallen asleep somewhere between San Francisco and Reno while my friend, Steven, was driving. 

I woke up to the first track of Lost in the Forest. It was an edit of the amazing track by Lucilla Galeazzi called Sogna Fiore Mio. It was such a sensual start to a set that I was instantly intrigued by the artist.

Now a little less than a year later, we have the incredible honour to post his mix for The Gardens of Babylon. This time we don't get lost in the forest, but inside our very own Gardens.

So much can happen in only one year...."

"Last June I went to a French Burn called Crème Brûlée.  Imagine yourself for a bit, wandering around in this lush green area somewhere in France. I found myself at a place where magic happens because all attendees are co-creators. I was surrounded by people that brought artwork, performances, fun activities, workshops or music stages. 

On one of the first days a dear friend of mine, Marie, told me I really should check out this DJ called  Simon de Kinkelin aka Shimonक्ष्. He was going to amaze me with his selection of tracks. Hard to refuse, isn't it? 

Somewhere that weekend I found myself at his outside stage.. His music took possession of me. I was flowing and dancing with a big smile on my face for hours. 

It was the beginning of a deep appreciation and an intense love story with this wonderful DJ. We stayed in touch after this weekend. And whenever we would be talking, he told me my enthusiasm gave him a boost in his creativity. 

How I love his work and gentle personality and what better way then spread his passion for music and share it with you all. Enter the world of love and friendship with this melodic mix. And be sure to join us on the 8th of September for the third edition of Wild as the Moon with Madmotormiguel, Florian Rietze and one of my personal favourits Shimon!"

The sound of '2020' is new jazz and old funk with an electronic city pace, brought to you by duo The Colours That Rise. Made up of multi-instrumentalists and producers Simeon Jones and Nathanael Williams, their '2020' EP is a confident guide through future sounds and past histories from a time yet to come. 

Created using analogue synths and acoustic instruments, the 4 track EP works as the score to a yet to be created animation. Nathanael's background is creating soundtracks for films, while Simeon plays with UK jazz prophets Yussef Kamaal and featured on Henry Wu’s ‘Negotiate’ 12”. 

'2020' is an experimental electronic voyage that emerges from the ambient and arrives on the dance floor.

Welcome back to our precious Amsterdam Music Sessions. The new mix that is awaiting you is created by the Amsterdam goddess Isis. We know and adore this incredible human for some time now and are most excited to welcome her in our Gardens family.

For years this woman has created the nightlife in Amsterdam.. She was the feminine energy that we desperately need in this masculine world. 

But a part from creating events every year where likeminded souls could find each other, it was her music that swallowed us whole. On one occasion we'd just set out to promote our very first event of The Gardens we found her behind the decks at this mesmerising place in Amsterdam Noord. We instantly knew that we would soon work together. 

And so it begins.. Finding her way to our stage for the first time this October we are happy to announce that this goddess will take a residency at The Gardens for the upcoming year...

This mixtape took a while. Sometimes my own standard seems to be too high to reach, so I try again and again until I’m satisfied with the story. With this one, I really am.
I’m absolutely thankful that I have the privilege to find and share music from all over the globe. Through music, on the one hand I feel more connected to the world and all its weird and overwhelming moods, and to its sad and also horrible stories. On the other hand it reminds me of my responsibilities for the world as someone from the richest countries of the global north.

Für unsere Nr. 125 haben wir einen geheimnisvollen musikalischen Tiefseetaucher an Land gezogen, der uns mit seinen zart-bitteren, winterlichen Klängen verzaubert. Wir dürfen euch vorstellen: Loki Styx aka "Really bad guy from deep Space. Unholy Lord of the mighty FancyDancers. Rogue & Bouncebringer at Night." Har, har.

Informationen gibt es so gut wie keine über ihn. Aber ehrlich gesagt, wer braucht schon einen gängigen lyrischen Lobgesang zu all den tollen Dingen, die der oder die Künstler eben tut/tun? Schließlich handelt es sich schlussendlich doch um einen musikalischen Podcast. Ganz genau, Musik. Und hierfür liefert Loki ein gewaltiges Statement ab, das seinesgleichen sucht. 

Zurückhaltend, gedämpft und mit viel Liebe zum Detail schippert er durch die weiten Welten verschickter, langsamer, elektronischer Musik. Ohne zu Untertreiben, aber von Anfang bis zum Ende lässt einen das Set nicht mehr los. Zu toxisch ist die in sich tragende Stimmung, die die Tracks erst im Zusammenspiel erzeugen. Wer nach dem berühmt berüchtigten roten Faden sucht, ist hier absolut an der richtigen Stelle. In seinem Set geht es auch ebenso wenig darum, tolle aktuelle Tracks zu spielen, sondern eine individuelle Note zu transportieren, die sich keineswegs auf ein Genre reduzieren lässt. Dafür aber umso mehr auf ein Gefühl. Und das heißt hier: 'Entspanntes Treiben lassen'. Chapeau Loki Styx.

And so we set foot in the new year. It is becoming. 

For us 2016 was paving the way. Taking out everything that was needed to set us on the path of The Gardens of Babylon. The following 2017 brought happiness and joy. Crossing paths with beautiful souls, sharing moments with incredible beings and listening to sounds of the star children from another galaxy. But still, like a ship that is about to reach the shore we knew we were only setting the first steps in to the new world.  

Time to continue our journey. To explore new life and new opportunities together with our family. 

To start this new year with revelations instead of resolutions, we asked some artists very close to us to create a podcast for you. So sit back and enjoy, because we will share one masterpiece after the other in the following days.

Starting with MeToBe. I found out about Chris because he was sharing his sets in family group. And as we get many sets I am not always able to listen to them. I thank the day that I decided to put one on. It's so different. And I mean not always, but his track selection, is smart, it's cool, it's different, it's interesting. I found myself spending hours of exploring his sets...

What better way to kick off a new year than with a new label? option4 seems to agree, launching off his new label called HotBOi Records with a brand new release from Dirtybird affiliate, Bristol native @djwillclarke. For now, HotBOi Records will host releases from an exclusive grouping of strong talents: Will Clarke, Huxley, ZDS and label boss, option4. Will Clarke has inaugurated the imprint with a bumping new release called 'On The Train', a powerful showing of that sharp dance floor wit Clarke has become an absolute master of. 'On The Train' is out on HotBOi on January 12.

Welcome to the third mix that we will share in this already magical year of 2018. Out of all the artists that we have ever met, Luis is one of my personal favourites. 

The relationship between an artist and promoter is sometimes challenging. As soon as we work with an artist we try to support them in every way possible. They have become our family. And that is what we do. It was SUPER difficult in the beginning to find the perfect balance between that support and booking artists new to The Gardens. 

Luis is going to premier inside The Gardens in 2018, EVEN THOUGH he had his eye on the vision & vibe of The Gardens as soon as it started. He would send me music on a monthly basis. Beautiful, gripping, EXTRAORDINARY music. 

Now... The pieces have fell into the puzzle.

His mix is simply divine. See this as the introduction of an artist that you will experience often this year.

Well hello you, welcome back to our favourite first days of 2018! As promised we will upload musical treasures every day for ten days.

On the fourth day we bring you the sound and vibes of one of our closest family members, Vander. This angel is no stranger inside The Gardens. He runs the marketing for Wild as the Moon, he is our top resident and he is just him.

This "him" is constantly smiling. It's a mixture of a boyish grin to a warm and welcoming smile. 

Ever since he came into our family he has been passionately working on his music. Producing track by track, creating sets and exploring the musical world we live in. 

Tonight on January 6 he's playing at our lunar madness Wild as the Moon alongside Mira&Chris. Keep an eye on him angel... He will be around for a long time.

We’re continuing our summer cocktail menu with the Rum Runner, an exotic refreshener brought to you by VANDER. 

Originally from the white sand beaches of the Dominican Republic, VANDER is currently based in Amsterdam.  

He is the connection of all the pieces of a puzzled world influenced brain. Collecting memories and acquiring knowledge from a diverse group of cultures, it was impossible not to let them influence his musical taste. 
His sound is the result of his inclination towards spirituality, romance, and connection. All this, combined with his Latin musical influences coming from the sunny Caribbean, result in a rhythm he describes as "mambo". 

Vander just returned from his show at the Horde Cruise in Paris when he recorded this exclusive set for Schirmchendrink. Next stop is the Monastery festival by The Gardens of Babylon, where he plays as resident.
