Throughout my entire career as a musician I have had a seemingly endless folder of short demos, lost projects files,
things I’ll get to later but never actually will and assorted other abandoned ideas.
Some of them make up the best things I’ve ever written and for reasons that only the universe can explain, they remain unfinished or forever in limbo.

Strangely so many of these ideas seem to clock in at 90 Seconds and the idea to release a compilation album of them was born. Knowing how many people had mountains of similar short tunes, I assembled a crew of 59 artists and myself, making 60 in total. Each of us has unearthed something that we hold dear, or created something especially for the project. While focusing primarily on Drum and Bass there is other genres represented like Dubstep, Jungle, Breakbeat and Hardcore.

The 90 Second Maximum was initially a project geared around showing love to the records in history that mean the most to me. The time length allowed on my favourite social media outlet is 90 Seconds, and over the last 18 months I have been creating a body of content that is pure love from the heart. Sending flowers to the music and the music makers who have touched me the most. 

Now it is time to showcase some amazing musicians and in the process set free some of the magic these people have created. The compilation features a host of names but some notable mentions are Rusko, Ekko and Sidetrack, Zak Meow, Sadie, Physics, Armour, Kintsuku, Sample Bandit, Nixon and Pete Cannon.

This session starts out dark and deep before soaking in some 93 hardcore vibes around the 35min mark. Later in the set, it’s back to the 1994 futuristic retro vibes to close things out.  For the sake of that ‘93 nostalgia, I included some Belmont Tunnel images.  For those who don’t know, in Los Angeles, the old Belmont Tunnel / Toluca substation and train yard was an epicenter for West Coast graffiti and also home to one of the earlier Jungle parties in Los Angeles circa 1993. San Diego local, and badmon, Charles Rebellion, absolutely crushed it on this episode of Rogue Wave! Super honored to have him on the show and share his skills with the jungletrain massive. 

Charles Rebellion has been deeply embedded in the southern California rave scene since 1996 initially as a raver and has been crushing dance floors in both the Jungle DnB and Bass music circles starting in 2003. He had his start pushing bass to the masses on the world wide web as an online radio show host (DnBTV.com) in 2006. While also playing venues, outdoor festivals, and intimate desert gatherings both locally and nationwide. Charles has performed in cities from Las Vegas to Seattle to Philadelphia. And out across the Atlantic in Bristol (UK) and above the border in Toronto (CAN). Charles Rebellion has also held multiple Jungle / DnB residencies in both San Diego and Los Angeles counties for well over the past decade while also continuing to stay eclectic with his deep arsenal of selections and bringing a different feel to every platform on which he performs. 

Charles loves to take the listeners on a journey through the music no matter what BPM range within the music. Balancing Leftfield sounds alongside familiar, high-energy-filled beats and deep cuts, he traverses through sub-genres and obscure grooves seamlessly within the bass music realm. Bringing something fresh and rewarding to the dance floor every single time.
