This is actually an old one that I never put the polish on. I'd like to redo it I think; I think it'll be worth the effort. If anybody is interested in the story that is being read under the soundscape, I'd be glad to provide it.

Total Aphex of the Heart

This week has left me with a very heavy heart. I'm ashamed of how my country is responding in fear to a humanitarian crisis. This appears to be driven by people who identify as Christian but seemingly pick and choose when to follow the faith's basic teachings. The lack of compassion to those with real need staggers me. 

I learned of Ma'loula this week, a town near Damascus in Syria where Aramaic is still spoken.  It is said that Aramaic is one of the languages that Jesus may have spoken. I tried to find a creative commons licensed recording of a Syrian reciting the Lord's Prayer but could not locate one. Instead, I found Iraqi children singing it and this recording served as my primary source for this week's composition:

Using my modular I wave-folded two copies of the singing and further processed it with delay and reverb. The recording was then combined with the original track from @random-coil. I adjusted the levels a bit to mesh them in Reaper.

**Production Notes**

Even after several visits to the dentist, my molar tooth is killing me. So I’m somewhat desperate, frustrated and aggressive in the last few days. Hence the „crunchy“ approach. 

I chose to go more extreme this time. It took me a while to realize the piece is actually in 3/4 (I’m still not quite sure if that’s true). Added a simple kick drum, clap and cymbal to go along with the drum parts. 

For melodic parts, the new Max for Live bass ensemble did great. Also added several samples, Reaktors Rounds and an Ableton Analog Lead with a pinch of Bitcrusher.

Added EQs and compression. That’s all. Time to take another painkiller.

Deadline: This assignment was made in the early afternoon, California time, on Thursday, November 19, 2015, with a deadline of 11:59pm wherever you are on Monday, November 23, 2015.

Length: The length is up to you. The original is just under six minutes, though you needn’t create something that long.

This is an entry for the Disquiet Junto project for March 7-11, 2013. 

The instructions were:
Step 1: Devise which three sine waves you will employ. They should be different from each other in some evident way.
Step 2: The track should open with just one of the sine waves.
Step 3: Add the second sine wave at 5 seconds.
Step 4: Add the third sine wave at 10 seconds.
Step 4: Only at 15 seconds should you begin to in any way manipulate any of the source waves.

I wrote a Csound program that generates three sine waves.
- The first tone is a 240Hz tone that sounds for the entire piece.
- The second tone is higher, starting at a ratio of 31/16 relative to the first tone (sharper than a major seventh, derived from the 31st harmonic).
- The third tone is lower, at a ratio of 16/31 relative to the first tone (the reciprocal of the second tone).
- After 15 seconds. the second tone starts gliding downwards in pitch until it reaches the ratio of 65/64 (flatter than a minor second, corresponding to the 65th harmonic).
- Also at 15 seconds, the third tone start gliding upward in pitch until it reaches the ratio of 64/65 (again, the reciprocal of the second tone).
- Elapsed time making the piece (not counting the time I thought about it before making it): about an hour.

Tl;dr: starts wide, gets narrow.

Little something I've been working on recently, like a lot of guys in the scene I've grown tired of making heavy dubstep and have made the decision that this will most likely be my last 'tearout' tune. I'm definitely making plenty more tunes, and plenty of dubstep, just less of the really over the top stuff. 

Anyway, seeing as everyone has been crying all over facebook about Skream's departure from the genre being the death of the whole thing, it seemed like a ridiculously appropriate time to upload this, even if it isnt finished! 

No release plans just yet but I'll work something out!
