"By the 2030s, serving a prison sentence had evolved into an exceptionally cruel and bizarre experience, though potently efficient and, somehow, well-respected. Gone were the days of sitting around idly, just trying not to get beaten up while waiting for your sentence to be over. No, you were incarcerated in a virtual penal education portal. Imagine a video game that felt, sounded, and looked like reality, but where you were made, with vivid, graphic detail, to relive your crime against humanity from the receiving end in shocking and deeply moving ways that could only be imagined. Then, you were forced to learn, at length, the gaps in your ignorance. Through the brutal autocracy of supply-side economics, private prisons devolved into skyscrapers full of tiny cells, barely wider than the wingspan of a large adult. Strapped into "the machine," as they called it, and plugged into "Convict University", your body and mind were constantly in motion, while in reality, you were in a perpetual state of aestivation. A highly engineered fungus was both part of your daily sustenance and your captor. It was forced through a tube, along with a nutrient-rich slurry awash in hypnotic drugs and antibiotics. This was such a cheaper and more effective form of incarceration and re-education that it swept the globe. Even so, some estimated that a full 3.8% of the planet's global energy output was consumed by these towers of torpor and the systems that re-learned all those who needed their thinking corrected. Curiously, these systems had originally been designed by the Russians for keeping mortal bodies working and minds sharp during deep space travel and were adapted to this disturbingly efficacious purpose upon that once-proud nation’s plunge into the depths of cruel, capitalistic oligarchy..."

Towers Of Torper

On this the week of 1-8-21 on “In Synthesis with Infinite Is”, we begin the show with some sounds reflecting on the seditious riot of the superstitious right at our nations capital. We are deeply saddened and disappointed at the lives lost and the trust that was squandered in service of despotic, superstitious lies and a selfish mans injured pride. We must steel ourselves against this blatant attack on our democracy and find a way forward that respects all those who built this great nation and look forward to a vision of a more just, rational, compassionate and truthful path.


We then convey a few area announcements and review a live in studio set from December of 2019 called "The Battle Of The Beeg". An ode to the biofreighter of legend and those who lived for it's mission. The show closes with a deep and melodic closing improv session.

Sedition Of The Superstitious

"Stranded just a few kilometers from the fast moving kill zone, Basakai crawled away from the horrifying sounds and smells of the biofreighters approaching storm of deadly falling spikes. A great cloud of death, soil and debris reared up toward the upper atmosphere, like a giant poisonous wave, poised to smash down upon a tiny boat. Already the wind carried the first wisps of heat, fine dust and the smell of vaporizing infrastructure. There would be no escape from this erasure. Then looking back upon the last few maneuvers, this poor, wretched fool now began to see where it all went wrong. What a reckless idiot, how could anyone be so easily convinced to put all their eggs in one hatchettolite hole like that. Why oh why?

 A stench of fungus began to filter into the leading edge of the dust cloud and the acrid air tasted like metal. Basakai knew that this meant that there was only a short time before the poison scrambled every sensory input and jumbled every code. Breaking down atomic bonds of all living things, the experience was engineered with the final mercy of immeasurable bliss on behalf of the soon to be victims, the transition from living to dead would culminate in a brilliant flash of white hot pleasure. Once this poor soldier’s butterflies began floating, the terror washed away and there was nothing left to do but flip over and spread out on the trembling ground facing the sky.

 Deep breaths now, exhale slowly, the brilliant warm glow builds even through closed eyelids. It was over, it was time to give in to entropy. Basakai swallowed hard, belly quivering with adrenaline and the great shaking of the ground beneath.  There will be no one left to remember the sacrifice of this one life, in just a few revolutions, this planet will be unrecognizable, once the Rhizomes take hold. All Basakai could do now was to follow training and begin counting backwards..."

"The atmosphere shimmered emerald green with aurora that night, from horizon to horizon, it filled the sky. A single, hectic point, was visibly pulsing a dazzling array of color. It would be the last signal that the Arecibo observatory would receive before it was crippled. Some suspected that the damage was inflicted to prevent further communications from being heard. This massive dish was uniquely apt at sucking in the singing, broad spectrum signal. Flaring with great intensity, Proxima Centauri, a low mass main sequence star was somehow transmitting a bizarre data stream. Nobody seemed to be able to translate into useful information, yet there could be no doubt that the star was pulsing with this sort of obviously ordered transmission. Just shy of an hour, the recording presented such a startling rhythm, and the strangest alien sounding melody, the scientists tasked with trying to decode it would play the audible portion of the spectrum as they worked. In fact it was leaked and soon became a popular hit on all of the planets top 40 charts somehow, everyone seemed to become obsessed with it’s hypnotic draw. Almost overnight it was nearly impossible to escape it as it was broadcast 24 hours a day, on every frequency. It leapt from boomboxes, screeched from drive through speakers, careened out of car stereos, crept from clip on speakers, that began to hang from crowds of distracted pedestrians, like parasites. It echoed out of minarets, church steeples, it was on the subway, at the grocery store, in the elevator, blaring thinly from every phone, tablet and laptop. Gogo, somehow knew, like a very select few, that from the moment he heard it, he had to stop it, he had to shut down the mountain, and disable the massive dish and quick..."

After a few area announcements we have a long suureal look at our reflection when Jeff seizes control of the vocoder for a piece entitled "Mirror". Contemplations were contemplated, Thoughts were thunk, counterpoints were pointed out, voices were vocoded and much fun was had by all.

Proxima Calling (pt 1)

"“Let it happen Captain.” “Aye aye sir.” The bridge begins to rumble and heave once the grapple releases as the reactors magnetic coils humming, struggle to contain the fusion plasma and all that energy shudders harmonically through the bracing decceleration, 7 G’s. Falling from the sky, engine blazing, they flare to land and impact the ice with a crack plunging into the frigid sea. The water is alive with ships all shapes and sizes, hauling waste and reactor feed, selling needful things, voices plead. Echoing across the cavern walls, rippling through the hull, sonars singing, signaling intended paths that tangle like a kettle full of snakes. The dingy water is turbid and opaque. You must listen your way about, sometimes shout, sometimes talk your way out. It’s all for sale and all for trade. The captain calmly says “We have arrived” and parks the ship on a siding so close that Sensha could just see through a starboard port the outline of military hull numbers that had been recently painted over. The couplers attach with a dull thud over the missile bay, she has done it, she has found the ship, victory is hers! All she has to do now is detonate the bays detachment bolts, engage the chicken switches and the Emergency Main Ballast Tank will blow, leaving nothing behind but Sherwood Forrest..."

 Each one of us deserves the dignity of understanding, the patience of respect and the restraint of concern. There are other ways to keep the peace, other ways to police. 

Instead of jails, we build better schools and libraries, counseling and health care, are free. Instead of punishment, we love, we feed and house the needy, we look out for those who have the least.

 We must try harder, we must not forget, to love each other and give something back. We hear you and we raise you up..."

Black Lives Matter 9-4-20 In Synthesis with Infinite Is opening jam

Found addressed to "all astray", a letter from the future, for today:

“It is so important as we go ahead, into the future, into their heads. 
We keep the real, leave the past, broken lies that weaken, fairy tales of magic men. 
Into this void we hurtle, the empty space can be a burden, when it lies between our ears. 
So ill equipped we are right now, to cope with our own success.

 It is time to demand what should be ours, from those in command, who steal and cheat us, like worshipers of supply side Jesus. 
They take and take and take it from the bottom and keep it for themselves. Then lie about how they can’t afford to help. 
The rich get richer because we let them. 

They are teaching us to play dumb, teaching us not to want a future for everyone. 
Instead of whips and chains, they reduce our brains, to simple, superstitious rubes. 
They take away our ability to argue. 
Just sports and god and facebook memes, guns to shoot and games to play. It’s all just feels over reals, instigate, hate, fear, divide, detract, desensitize, depersonalize, depreciate. 
Reality has a liberal bias, the right is now just out to harm us.

 It is time we take control, over what our efforts can do for all. 
Give reason to the little ones, teach them about the harm that superstition does. 
Teach how to learn some more, give them methods, give them goals, give them critical thinking lessons.
We will not win until we have nailed the last lie to the counter. 
Lies like “In God We Trust” need to die at the alter, appeals to superstition diminish us. 
That junk’s not real, it’s dangerous. 
We need to beat the virus of made up stuff, it is a fiction that is literally killing us, when more than half won’t vaccinate because they’re ignorant.”

Beat The Virus

"Please control, police control, pull, ease control, police can troll. The Liar in Chief tweets across his kingdom, “Let’s all blame the Other for our hate.” You see, more police are just treating the symptom, they are going into battle, digging graves, shooting victims, laying waste. 

Killing cons, and straight up victims, doesn’t change the reason desperate people can’t find the way, it does nothing to teach us what we need to say. We are investing in the wrong end of the spectrum, we need to care for every last son and daughter, like they were our own. Instead we have school lunch debt. We have people dying from lack of insulin. 

We need to teach the value of true knowledge, and celebrate the methods of discerning truth from division. Instead we tell them that faith isn’t fiction. We tell them that facts are opinions. 

Punishing people after they are ruined, is a waste of life, and a brutal crime upon the vast neglected. We need to save them from the other end, reach them when their brains aren't dead, from a tortured life of stress and sickness, lies and pain, and often addiction. So much crime is folks doing the best they can to live in trauma, they don’t see an end to the drama.

 So many more would be equipped to deal, with better circumstances to appeal. Give the least of us what we need to thrive, a basic income, get on board, organize. Don’t let our sons and daughters die, because we didn’t choose a better way to try. More teachers and their aids, and more life paths to take, free and better schools, better health, better reasons to climb higher, better ladders, better reasons to inspire. We need to reign in the soldiers, this is not a war, we have only failed to care for, and to educate, we have failed to invest in our futures future, let’s get started, it’s not too late..."

Police Control

"Approaching the fertile blue planet, the great ship shivers off it’s ablative ice protection layer and begins pulsing the reaction control system thrusters, deftly positioning the spacecraft in a sparkling shower of sharp, shimmering shards of ice. The reentry sequence code flashes up the main screen as the skipper secures her harness with a well practiced series of quick tugs. The wind whistles around the airframe of the Addie Shackly as the first layer of thin atmosphere begins to rattle and pitch the hulking mass. As the rime burns off the windscreen she suddenly begins to see clouds of small drones all over the horizon. How could this be, why didn’t the ships radar alert her on approach? 
Then one by one the small drone craft begin attaching themselves to the hull, this is a hijacking. There is not much she could do until she reaches a safe maneuvering speed, so she puts the countermeasures to work and alters her trajectory for evasive maneuvers. “Engineering, I need maximum thrust!” This is where it all begins to go wrong, the reactor plasma collapses under the load in a burst, the gravitational force knocks the crew unconscious and when they wake up it’s already too late. 
The engineering crew tries desperately to get the reactor back on line by trying to pulse the poison out. Though they have successfully evaded the bulk of the drone pirates, the main engines are damaged beyond repair and they are now free falling, too fast for the emergency parachute. The remaining drones fall off the glowing hull for self preservation and the crew readies itself to abandon ship."...

Fall of the Addie Shackly 10-2-20 In Synthesis with Infinite Is opening set

"One moment Lilisa was closing the hatch to her ejection pod and the next she was waking up in the sick bay of the “research” vessle Glavset. Like the whaling ships of the 21st century it wasn’t actually doing research, it was a hunting ship exploiting a loophole in the laws of the galactic federation. In fact it was among the most dangerous ships in the galaxy, captained by the notorious disinformation agent Dr. Johnny Bananas. The only people who called him doctor though were his crew, whom he called the Troll Farm. There has hardly ever been a force more evil in the history of intelligent life, more destructive and useless as superstition. Those who can make you believe absurdities can make you commit atrocities and that was the very business Dr. Bananas and his crew of ruthless trolls did for a price. Spreading fear and confusion wherever they went. Jamming and intercepting communications, replacing facts with opinion, they spread lies far and wide, deepfaking with such accurate depictions that even your own mother could not tell the difference between the real and the unreal.
The instant she awoke she knew she was in trouble, in fact the extraction had already begun. Her entire life's experience was being downloaded into the farms data banks. They would exploit every contact, every memory, every relationship that she ever encountered if she could not stop the transfer and escape. She thought out loud to herself “It’s my low frequency oscillator”, it was then she had the answer. She would flood the patch with noise, like she had accidentally done to her ships radar. Dither dither, chicken dinner, that was it by space!.."

"Eximer Emission Egg of Essence Emergency Ejection was the laser fusion escape module of the day when the Addie Shackly was the very cresting wave of modern technology. It was a primitive homing capsule, faster than light, you had one shot from the miniature warp drive. If you were not aimed with the utmost mathematical precision, you would be doomed to drift beyond the redshifting crest and into the great beyond. This unit, being conceived by beings, who still trying to keep the mortal meatbag with the computer mind made provisions to instantly freeze the body in situ the moment that the Egg was ejected into the feedback harness and carry it along for a journey it may well not survive. “Skipper Pinkblack here, abandon ship, abandon ship!” “Everyone to the Ejection bay, that means you too Sid!” “I’ll never make it in time Pinkblack, farewell me friend it has been an honor serving you” Shut up and start moving Sid, that’s an order!” Then as the ship began to submit to the heat of reentry, sending tiles tumbling out in a smoking trail behind her, shafts of pure energy streamed skyward, shock waves booming out from the blinding streaks. If there was someone out there to stop them in their path, they would be saved and mere moments will have passed. If not, they would be doomed to drift out into the infinite is, beyond the habitable and slowly die in suspended animation in heat death and distance. As these were early designs, some would make it, most would not..."

HexEjecting into Hyperspace

"Morton understood the implications of his reckless endeavor, but he knew he had to succeed. He was the first to learn that chickenbots had an easy to exploit vulnerability. They could be soothed and and reprogrammed, using their audio modem. Every now and then another one would show up, presumably looking for what happened to those who came before them. He would trap them, and encode his own costume program into them using a primitive computer, and a modified Buchla synthesizer. He had a whole flock of them that he kept behind a stockade fence, programmed to look and act like average 21st century chickens. Being a brilliant, bored, self aware Immortalite, he thus proceeded to copy himself into many different bodies across the globe, in an effort to evade total extermination, should the murderous murmuration ever catch him off guard, without his noisemaker. He kept one on his person at all times, which got easier as the primitive humans developed their technology, from tape, to compact disks, to hard drives, to handheld computer phones. If a chicken were to cross his path he would immediately begin the sequence. The chicken would stop in place and begin to sway, while holding it’s head perfectly still, entranced and under his spell. He could then disconnect it from the mumeration, and deconstruct it’s memory, quickly re configuring it in a matter of about a half hour, reducing it’s behavior to that of common livestock..."

Livestocking Botnik

"If the stars fell from the sky, when would they fall and why? Aeneas Fish swirled her hands on the wet grass with her outstretched arms, as she laid, staring up, and out, into the brilliant dance of slowly drifting points of light. Somehow she could hear the silver moon singing to her, as it shimmered down on her from the cold, vast expanse. Was that just the wind in the reeds that had gripped her to this spot?  Out here, just off in the rough of the 17th hole, at the Tri-Par golf course, she hoped she would be safe. She hoped, out loud, by chanting just under her breath “I’m safe here, I’m safe here, I’m safe here…”. That morning she had witnessed a shocking, and bizarre murder, it was so strange, and horrific that she had been perpetually moving until this moment, trying to outpace those weird, cruel, murdering, dressed up chickens. Where did they all come from, with their shiny Mylar outfits? That awful morning, just about sunrise, while waiting at the bus stop, they had seemed to come from all directions. Poor, gentle, brilliant, Morton Sue Botnik, why on earth was he shredded up so savagely by that strange pack of weird looking chickens? The last thing he said to her, just before they appeared was, “be the change you want to see”, after he sympathized with her dismal outlook on the state of humanity. Oh the noise they made, it only took about 6 minuets for them to tear that poor man into shreds, of flesh, and bones. Carrying every last bit of him off in small pieces, they left nothing but a big red puddle of blood. Then as the last bird was departing, it spotted her across the street, when the suns leading edge peered out over the hill, bathing her fresh, apple shaped face in the golden morning light. She had been on the run ever since, it seemed like there was a chicken around every corner in town, and everyone thought she was crazy when she pleaded for help, ranting about blood thirsty chickens..."

Glimmering Girl

"It is true that 'the saddest aspect of life right now is that science gathers knowledge faster than society gathers wisdom.' At some point, it becomes not just advantageous, but necessary, to mandate compulsory continuing education for everyone. Perhaps just a few hours a day, once a week? Pay people to attend, and let them choose the knowledge they would like to prioritize. However, demand that everyone, regardless of intelligence, social, or financial status, commit at least a little time, one day a week, to learning how to learn and to the acquisition and dissemination of human knowledge. Make all schooling free, so long as it conforms to the scientific method and the best, most up-to-date empirical evidence. This is a right for which we should leave nobody behind. 
We should no longer accept it when people reject reality and substitute their superstitions for knowledge. As Asimov once said, ‘Anti-intellectualism has been a constant thread winding its way through our political and cultural life, nurtured by the false notion that democracy means that my ignorance is just as good as your knowledge.’ What good is knowledge if no one knows it? We must put the 'no' in 'ignorance' and reject that for which there is no good evidence."

"Pinkblack’s piloting skills were the stuff of legend, sortie after sortie, simulator after simulator, any ship, any condition, any adversary, she would find a way to prevail. She could make you do things, think things, fear things, and love things, with her powerful, well honed skills. It was like the game was somehow rigged to always grant her victory in any scenario. It went beyond ridiculous, and well into the unbelievable. But there she was, time after time, flaying open the hull, crushing the bridge, extinguishing the engines, disabling the shields. It was as if she was playing chess, and everyone else was playing checkers. Many would constantly underestimate her, on account of her shocking and everlasting beauty. Her mind was astonishingly alluring, she seemed to be able to persuade every secret out of you, draw out every desire, feel out your every fear. She was ruthlessly forward, yet somehow hypnotically graceful. For anyone else, her training would have been brutal, and overwhelmingly intense, her endurance had no known match. However many times the brood drones tried to copy her form, there would only ever be just one who was as successful as Lilisa. She was the very apex of the form, and she wielded great influence over the multiverse along her arc. She had but one weakness, one deficiency, one flaw, one instability, one irrational reaction. Only general Tovis would ever stumble upon this leverage, and leverage it he would, pressing her into his service, and into what he thought was in service of the greater good..."

Leveraging The Lethal

"Even though their meatbag, Biovatar bodies, had no sleep requirements, it was often done recreationally. The preferred arrangement were tightly packed, hexagonal, hive configurations. Communal beds where the heat and rhythm of the group, is as soothing as a pile of kittens in a fluff lined basket. Progeny grafted Pinkblack and her merry shipmates were groupdreaming in transit when it happened, this transformed the event into something truly strange and confusing. This was one of the unknown unknowns that General Tovis had tried so cleverly to prepare for in futures planning. The first to notice the anomaly was Sid, when the navigation comparator began to fail to make predictions, triggering the main engines scram. Suddenly everything went blurry and a blush of fuchia flashed through the ship. A brilliant destruction followed the wave as it washed clean of the fore deck in a burst of tachyonic voltage, and slammed into the brane separating this multiverse and the adjacent brane. A shimmering gash tore open wide enough to swallow a meatbag class planet, and a long drip of the fabric of the adjoining reality herniated out until the surface tension snaped it violently back, like a frog’s tongue. The countermeasures launch in a brilliant barrage around the ship as Captain Pinkblack slipped into her flight harness. Taking command she guides the controls with a stochastic wit, suppressing the variance with deft precision, but it was too late, the ship and it’s crew began to fall through the glassy veil.  .."

Through The Glassy Veil

"You weren’t supposed to feel it, but you did. Time slows down around you, your stomach floats and flutters. It is not unlike the aura one gets before a seizure, or when you are about to start hallucinating after taking a large dose of LSD. Goosebumps and shivers are common, some get nauseous and vomit, some lucky few spontaneously orgasm. There are a lot of factors involved in spacetime travel that would surprise a 21st century pilot. The nagging Deja Vous, the refractory memories, the stimulus onset asynchrony was enough to give a fella mental whiplash. It’s very intense and makes most heads spin. Then when the momentum really kicks in, it is like the ice skater bringing their arms in, and the revolutions blur much faster with great force and confusion, until your mind slowly catches up with it, like a smoothie in a spinning cup. Then in the eye of the storm so to speak, there is no time, no now, no then, no before, no after. This lasts but a moment and the process reverses and again, kinetics drags the fabric of spacetime along with the motion until you are once again, in relative stillness. Somehow, somewhen, you were everywhere, everytime all at once for less than a moment. It can feel like both an instant and an eternity, madness for most, devastating decline for some, thrilling for those who learned how to absorb the blow. .."

Superluminal Syndrome

"Wake tracing was a lonely, mostly boring, though sometimes terrifying way to make a quick profit for those fool enough to take the bounty hunt on. It took great skill, and powerful processing, to keep yourself in a blind spot where your quarry would not detect your surveillance. Holly Hawk’s ship Knifedge was purpose built for this task. Long and thin it presented very little for radar to bounce off, so long as the profile was properly oriented. Sometimes if a ship were trying to evade, it’s countermeasures included sounding buoys meant to flank such stealthy craft. Usually they would be dropped in pairs or quads, though any number of asymmetric configurations were possible. Many solutions involved tumbling through the trap in a precise dance that took the sort of steady finesse only a computer was able to calculate on such short notice. That is unless you were strong in predictive motion like our intrepid hunter Hawk. This was turning out to be a very difficult assignment indeed though, in fact she had never chased a ship that put so much effort into not wanting to be followed. Constantly clearing the baffles at all sorts of random intervals she was doing a lot more dancing than she could enjoy..."

The Tesseracts Of Titan

Just like the photons that were created more than 13 billion years ago traveling at what we thought was a Cosmological Constant, time is an illusion. Were you that photon, you would not experience any time at all, the journey would happen in less than an instant. In fact everything to a photon moving at the speed of light happens in less than an instant, things do not appear or disappear, they are not created or destroyed, they just are, infinitely. The universe and everything that was ever and will ever begin and end, Is, infinitely.

When we get in touch with the present, we can be with the Is, all of the possible futures and pasts unfold before us, time and space are one and at once both static and dynamic. There are an infinite amount of ways to experience the Is, these are a few of our explorations of the Infinite Is.
