Here are some of my stronger sketches from 2022 — Y.XXII.

Most are hybrid cinematic, leaning towards the cinematic, while some lean towards more contemprary, pop-influenced, yet still cinematic style.

Firelight v1_2
Inspired by a soundtrack from the Arcane's series titled "Dirty Animals".
It's meant to give a feel of the industrial and busy ambience of the Zaun underground town.
It's called firelight because I had  in mind, the idea of Ekko and the Firelights when conceptualizing it.  //context needed

I'm honestly not feeling the synth melody at the end but ... we'll get to that.

xxii_05 - Firelight - [v1_2-0115] [ci]

Have a listen - this started with me just messing around on a piano with the Spiderman motif (melody) and I figured I owed this movie the tribute of a song.

So I listened to Samuel Kim's Spider-Man trailer adaptation and borrowed some elements to try and recreate.

Given it's been 5 days, I'm actually pretty happy that I'm improving - just a few months ago, the thought of trying to make something of this quality just felt out of reach.
Growth is a step-by-step game eh . . .

I'm primarily using:
+ FL Keys, LABS Soft Piano for piano
+ BBC Orchestra for violins, trombone, horns
+ & a bunch of samples from GhostHack & Cymatics I quite literally threw in for Sfx.

Pretty cool what you can do with one motif and some discipline to stick with one project.

If you're working on something important .. keep going
For "With great power —" well, you know the rest ..
... just keep showing up, practising and sharing your journey.

If you watched Spiderman NWH, you'll know the intense emotion behind this song.

I made this as a tribute to those going through a time of grief.
Sometimes, words can't break through to the point that hurts, but ... perhaps music can find the pain and wrap it with warmth as you heal. ✨

The Original Song is "Exit Through the Lobby" by Michael Giacchino, from the Spiderman NWH Soundtrack.

I added the upbeat section because ... it's unexpected.
It doesn't quite fit ... until it does.

As an ongoing music composition for my Film-Directing friends, I'm quite curious ...
I wonder what marvelously peculiar emotions and narratives this project will bring to both your eyes and ears.
