 🌌 🌈  GROGU'S QUEER HEART 🌈 💚 

Fresh Start.  New Experiments.  Storytelling. Songwriting (more interested in writing/co-writing behind the scenes with/for other artists than being THE performing artist myself; though I do enjoy writing/singing/recording experimentation process).

The name Hourglass Mandala is inspired by color, vibrancy and living experiences that alter, simultaneously, inside and outside of time and space.  The original song, On Time, birthed the seed of the idea for the name, as well. Also inspired by the colorful chapters (Head Full Of Dreams album) of bands like Coldplay.

The name Queer Inheritance Quilt is inspired by Justin Torres' masterpiece 2023 novel, Blackouts, (I am almost done with second read of the National Book Award-winning novel) while also being inspired by the queer history of such significant projects as the AIDS quilt.  Queer Pride is a stitched and patched and creatively expansive tapestry where no two stories are alike yet We Are One in the coalescence of Our Queer Overstory.  In these times where Queer Pride is being criminalized and bullied the Quilt is representative of comfort and time/space to be sheltered and heal as damaged humans from the storm of persecution of being one's true, authentic self...whatever that looks like.  I am 44 and only still learning about Our Queer Inheritance and how much we owe those who came before and how inspiring their light remains for guiding us all forward.  I struggle with my own place in the Queer Quilt because so often I am mistaken for straight or I get super intimidated/shy around attractive men and if I speak up on my attraction or crushes I either find out they are straight or have the conversation diverted. Lol.

I am so taken by the beauty of the male body.  In the past I would say addicted.  I am learning how to appreciate and admire and celebrate without it feeding a destructive monster.  I am even starting a new personal art project to celebrate my love of men in a transformative healthier way where I randomly choose a still from gay or male porn...sketch the image and surround the image in other images of humor or beauty or joy or whatever emotion channels through at the moment.  The goal is not only to put a spin on past addiction to porn but also to develop stronger drawing and sketch skills over time. One producer who has been involved in past disco and dance is interested in collabs.   I also have had some interest from other singer-songwriters.

The music project "Present Paradox" by Dortmund-based David Kleinekottmann provides insights into the often opaque nature of the present. The result is a fusion of melancholic and danceable elements, expansive and intimate at the same time, diverse and yet familiar. Since 2013, Kleinekottmann has been regularly releasing LPs/EPs that move between indie, experimental rock and electronica.
