We welcome Nehza Records head RONI into this week's Rhythmic Culture podcast. Her sound celebrates rave and underground club culture of the 90s but RONI's attitude as a DJ and record label boss is very much in the present moment, constantly evolving and adapting to the world around her. Earning recognition from Rinse France since the first day of her residency, she has followed an upward trajectory deeply rooted with the station.

In this week's mix the Parisian-Malaysian DJ included a lot of French artists and labels like Siu Mata & Amor Satyr, Simo Cell and Flore – all here for you to get steaming hot within just an hour, packed with the sounds we'd like to hear most from her.

Maoupa Mazzocchetti colours outside the lines. In fact, those proverbial lines have been eradicated altogether. The French-born, Brussels-based composer, multi-instrumentalist and sound artist is not interested in being pigeonholed or categorised, his musical ventures are guided by an urge to subvert and challenge the structures and constructs we've become accustomed to in contemporary dance music.

His work is complex and expansive; it invites the listener to be assertive rather than passive. When it comes to releases, he's made his way to some of the cream of the crop in his area of expertise: labels like Mannequin, Knekelhuis, Dark Entries and Brothers From Different Mothers have housed his work until now. 

His most recent release, the second in a compendium of LPs titled UXY Dosing©, continues his quest to break down the constructs of contemporary dance music. An exploration of "MDM (Maximal Dance Music)", a genre coined by Mazzocchetti which is linked to the over-consumption of dextrose associated with milk, the LP obliterates genre boundaries and invites you back into his consciousness-expanding universe.

Maoupa's musical mind is a perfect fit for our off-kilter Wednesday series so we enlisted him to take care of this week's. Get yourself acquainted...

Back in June, our homies from @splot invited us on a super fun mini tour of Poland. An absolute highlight of this trip was @fomoklub, a state of the art venue in Białystok, northeastern Poland, holding the freak flag high for underground culture and showcasing only the finest talent in leftfield, forward thinking electronic music. It was a real pleasure to visit this city and venue, the enthusiasm for creating a quality clubbing experience there left us speechless.
