"I feel we could call this a deep cuts disco-funk mix in the broadest sense of the tagline. Just a lot of tunes I collect and maybe the stuff I find personally most interesting, jazz funk, disco funk, psychedelic rock etc. I am taking liberties here. As a father of two, I am under hard time constraints. But since my studio at home is finished, I have the possibility to a) hang with my records again b) keep collecting records for a mix over several days. so the mix builds up inside of me already. i go for walks. listen to more music. and then when it needs to come out, it comes out. Didn't wanna play too many people would immediately know in the mix and at the same time, that I can make people fall in love and discover something new. that's the point hey? finders keepers. i hope the vibe resonates, I've definitely dug a bit deeper to keep everyone entertained. One of our favourite producers of 2022 steps up with an exclusive 64 minutes of almost entirely unreleased material. Parisian producer @tour-maubourg has released an remarkable body of work in the past couple of years that connects the dots between his city's deep house and nu jazz heritage (e.g. St-Germain, Wuz, Cassius) and the contemporary jazz scene, where sumptuous 4/4 grooves and broken beats are laced with sweet vintage and analog synth solos and motifs. We predict the biggest things for him and are very happy to have him contribute to our long-running series.

*How would you describe your sound?*

I’m trying to produce modern music, mainly house, jazz, and dub related with an old school and warm feel.

*What and who inspires you and influences your sound?* 

If I had to name three main influences it would be Ron Trent and Chez Damier, for their vision and reflection on pushing forward the sound.

Basic channel for their exploration of texture and ambience. Their sound has a unique feel.

Nicolas Jaar for his abilities to touch the masses with non pop music. His ability to make complexity simpler so that anyone can understand his music.

*Can you tell us a little about this mix and what it means to you?*

I was very happy that it was only made out of my production. As I have tons of music I stick that will probably not be released, it’s a good way to take it out of my hard drive and give it a second life 🙏

SlothBoogie Guestmix #369 - Tooli

Cacophony is by definition a collision of multiple sounds in discordance. Sounds that shouldn't go together basically. Bogotá, Colombia’s Felipe Gordon does this, but in euphony(bringing pleasure to ones ear)! Spreading himself blissfully across jazzy, disco, funky and soulful elements he pours this concoction into his cluby productions and sets which has now given him international recognition. Having put out forty plus 12" releases and an album since 2014, including his brilliant "Timeless EP" on our Karakul subsidiary, he has found himself on labels like Shall Not Fade, Razor'N'Tape, Toytonics and some of the most long standing greats more recently like Nervous records. For Phonica mix 104 Felipe walks us through what for him brings musicality into electronic music, what live elements bring humanity into our dance floors. We have a quick chat about more on this subject below and see what else the Colombian artist has up his sleeve.

With over 14 years of experience Soni Ceron has become one of the most recognized djs in the underground electronic music scene in Mexico.
When she moved to Mexico City she started to earn a prominent position in the underground scene, performing at various respected parties, festivals and underground clubs in the city, as well as in the United States playing at places like The lot Radio, Output in New York, The Standard Rooftop in LA, Winter Music Festival in Miami among others, sharing dj both with acclaimed international artists.
All this has led her to represent México in the international music scene as the first Mexican woman to perform on Boiler Room.
The following years she launched her first EP with Concret called Borders and became part of the interactive live act Concret/XYZ with the Italian producer Mateo Q-pha and Mexican visual artist Error 1322.
Currently she is resident dj and part of Galaxie Nites, one of the most prominent house parties in México.

When Meg doesn’t bury her nose in the medical textbooks, it is most likely she is instead igniting the underground nocturnal life in Newcastle with highly effective club tools, which she alone has the secret recipe. This nonchalantly talented cool cat first caught our attention with her powerful track ‘TaiNTed’, which our team has been voraciously playing over and over lately. Even though she is a newcomer to production, she promptly found her own style, distinctly infused with bold hip hop vocals and lively acid notes. If you’re lucky enough to catch her play at her Ill Behaviour or Time Trip residencies, expect her to attune house and disco to techno in the cleanest and sheerest way possible. Over the last year, she has been able to play with verve alongside big names in the thriving Irish and English scenes (Bicep, Big Miz, Loods, Salary Boy, and many more).

Going against the flow of her usual style, she has put her deepest and most abstract tracks together in this soothing and refreshing podcast. With such paradoxically intense and peaceful energy, expect to be crushingly shaken by cerebral house movements from Supreems, Fort Romeau or Todd Terje.
