@art-alfie, the eminent Swedish mastermind of unconditionally funky house blesses us with the privilege of two of his somewhat “out-there” house tracks. Two functional tools with maximum wonky-ness that will completely obliterate dance floors. The EP is released by Bigges District — a label run by Stockholm producers Ari Bald, Gudding and CJ Scott. Art Alfie’s enrollment on the label’s digital imprint DIGGES is a follow up on the series “Klubbdubbar”.

The EP takes off with ”Diana” — a house gadget made in collaboration with Måns Glaeser. “Diana”s ringing and chronometric synthesizer sounds and latin infused bass line stipulates a hefty and arid groove filled with color. On the flip “Libido Rising” enters. The tracks crooked and precarious character tosses the listener into a chaotic and tumultuous disposition. A brusque and wandering bassline accompanied by sprightly and agile jazz infused percussion culminates into this vigorous number.

Barcelona-based and ramen lover Baldo, also known under the moniker of BLD, is easily one of Spain’s most respected undergound talents and a fervent contributor to the local eletronic music scene. First influenced by UK Breakbeat from the 90s, he started his musical house career more than 10 years ago and has now been establishing himself as a luscious selector and producer, digging deep and raw house vibes covered with subtle acid touches. Consequently, most of his productions have been warmly welcomed by high-visibility labels such as Running Back, Step Recordings or Let’s Play House. Besides, he has also been running countless high-potential projects such as Neovinyl, Subwax Distribution, Physical Education, BLD Tape Recordings or Curated by Time. Longtime resident of the famous Razzmatazz club and regular guest at Spain’s top festivals (Sonar, DGTL), expect him to be finely captivating the crowd along the likes of Move D, Gerd Janson or Jeremy Underground. Although the global pandemic stopped him a bit in his tracks, he is now fully back on the scene for the enjoyment of everyone.

Baldo has channeled his focus on recording a genuine and meaningful house set, gathering tracks from Rob Pearson, Paramida or Juan Atkins. After playing it a few times, you will have the feeling the cold winter nights are already behind you!

Parisian duo Masomenos deliver their new LP ‘Unidentified Aerial Phenomena’ this May, coming via the Automatic Writing imprint and comprised of eleven originals, several of which feature Amsterdam’s San Proper.
Masomenos have always explored parallel worlds with their music, fusing an amalgamation of influences and bringing into their universe all the humour and kindness they’ve met on their path. Their music, weird and intriguing for some, lively and trippy for others, is like an ongoing story told over more than 15 years of musical production. Alongside the music is their graphic design accompaniment of funny creatures, and mystical figures. In this new opus, they surf the frontier between their club sound and home listening, inviting friends over for the ride. Julien Quentin at the piano, Adrien Boisseau on the viola, and San Proper on vibe & vocals.
Across the ‘Unidentified Aerial Phenomena’ LP Masomenos traverse through a variety of styles, from dynamic, microhouse compositions like ‘Tournicoti’, ‘Ainamor’ and ‘Planet X feat. San Proper’, which bring together bumpy, modulating drums with textural synths and sprinklings of jazz throughout. Also on offer is some heavy dub influence found in cuts like ‘Hollow’, ‘Cleopatra feat. San Proper’ and title-track ‘UAP’ which utilise bubbling stab echoes, swirling atmospherics and heavy doses of sub bass.
The album also sees many weird and wonderful explorations straddling the lines between electronica and house, like the computer game style of opening track ‘Rêve’, acid infused pad driven workout ‘Are You Sure’, cinematic feel of ‘Mystery Unsolved’ and closing cut ‘Daffy’s Land’ which wanders through six minutes of unfolding bass growls, nuanced rhythms and shimmering synth sequences.
