Robsoul reaches across the pond once again as LA house purveyor, Mikey V, returns to the label with three brand-new bumpin’ jams on his 'Closer' EP.
Rasping snares, shuffling hats and soulful vocal chops underpin the title track ‘Closer’, before a hollowed out bassline and synth stabs launch the track skywards from its breakdown.
Mikey sends us into 'Freefall’ on the flip with a skippier, lighter touch, but also a wobbling, swollen bassline that hits hard. Final cut 'Stay High’ matches the club-bound bump,  with a full-fire jazz ensemble of cascading keys and dancing sax, working together to deliver some major fancy footwork appeal.

Mikey V - Closer

A self-taught musician, he learnt his trade as a DJ on a pair of Soundlabs back in the '90s and with 20 years of music knowledge under his belt. His encyclopedic house sets are as educated as they come.

A well-connected, amicable guy who always lets the music do the talking, James has amassed countless friends on the UK dance scene over the years, helping to throw parties and linking up with leading industry figures at the world's most important club events.

A lover of music for the right reasons, he prides himself on being a versatile DJ who can read a dancefloor and control a crowd any time of day or night. A master of sexy yet earthy percussive grooves, he's as careful to please a dancefloor as he is of preserving his own values as a renowned vibe creator.

“I want to make others feel the way I feel when listening or playing music. Witness the satisfaction people have through my judgement of music,” said James when asked about his love of DJing.

Sam Pratt is an experienced DJ  who consistently hosts his own events and parties across the most renowned venues in th UK.

You can catch Sam playing all over Leeds, usually down at the Greenroom where he holds a residency or at the infamous Distrikt bar in the city centre. A venue which he has been performing in for nearly a decade.

Sam regularly collaborates with local brands to bring some of the biggest names in the underground music scene to Leeds and again continues to join forces RECOGNISE who together 2025-2025 have brought Tristan da Cunha, The Ghost & Samuel Deep to MiNT Warehouse, Voigtmann to Distrikt bar and Dyed Soundorom, Kepler & Annie Errez to Amber’s club in Manchester. In 2023 & 2024 they also worked with MiNT Festival on a project that saw them host and build 'The Meadow stage' with their customised production and lighting, which showcased some of Leeds very best local talent.
