Afropop Worldwide is an internationally syndicated weekly radio series, online guide to African and world music, and an international music archive, that has introduced American listeners to the music cultures of Africa, Latin America and the Caribbean since 1988. Our radio program is hosted by Georges Collinet from Cameroon, the radio series is distributed by Public Radio International to 110 stations in the U.S., via XM satellite radio, in Africa via and Europe via Radio Multikulti.

Music host, and cameraman for Live From Center Stage, Cape Cod MA. Audiophile, cinephile, still a fan of older media, like vinyl, and laserdiscs. Happily married to my sweet love Kate. 
Favorite genre of musics (but open to everything) Old school R&B (James Brown, Otis Redding, Al Green, Stax classics) , Obscure 60’s funk 45’s (memphix’s Chains and Black Exhaust compilation), classic 60’s psychedelica (sgt pepper, pet sounds, electric ladyland), to the Glam period (Bowie, Roxy Music, Eno, to 80’s dance/synth pop (Human League, Naked Eyes, Eurythmics, Thomas Dolby, Depeche Mode, Howard Jones, Echo and the Bunnymen, Haircut 100, heaven 17, etc.). International polyrhythmic music (The Master Musicians of Jajouka, Fela Kuti, Tinariwen), to neo folk soul,  minimalist edm, and Skweee… and some favorite artists rise above and deserve a special note, and some that fall through the cracks of genres. (The Smiths, Joni Mitchell, Prince, Stevie Wonder, Valerie June, Mark Lanegan, Peter Gabriel, Kate Bush, Cocteau Twins, Throwing Muses.) anything off the 4AD label, and The Real World label. I’m sure I left off a few, like Albert King, I dig some of those old blues grinders, especially At the crossroads of the early history of rock, like RL Burnside and Otha Turner. And Sister Rosetta Tharpe, or where genres would bend and twist and create new types of music like Scott Joplin, WC Handy, Robert Johnson, Fats Waller, Buddy Bolden, Ike Turner (Jackie Berendon & his Delta Cats) and Elvis (both at Sun Studio), to Radiohead, and Antony and The Johnsons.
