Following the success of Pitto's album "Objects In A Mirror Are Closer Than They Appear" on GREEN, we've waited excitedly and impatiently for new material from the blooming artist. With his new multi-layered single “Shadows” Pitto once again elegantly entertains our senses. The beautiful melody played by Woodie S, together with the continuous clicking pattern and synthesised bassline create a sublime piece of audio that has an almost supernatural perspective.

The introduction of vocals accentuate's the echoes of the lyrics adding another dimension to the Johannes Brecht Remix. While Edwin Oosterwal’s Dub adds further depth creating a chilled vibe by intensifying the other-worldly state of the original.

This fall Tolga Böyük, one-third of a Turkish-based islandman, went for a short trip to Copenhagen to visit Kenneth Bager. The music wasn't planned at all, but out of the idea of making the soundtracks for a non-existing movie, the two pioneers made an album in no time. 'Re-Arrange Your Face' is the third fragment.

That's exactly what happened when Fila Brazilia's Steve Cobby & Third Attempt hooked up to create some stunning sounds for their new EP.

B Human kicks things off with the first of two collaborations, and it's all kinds of rolling, hypnotic, spaced-out, Balearic business. Floating minor keys, walking bass and a gorgeous chugging guitar make it sun-blessed.

Language Of The Heart is the solo offering by Third Attempt, and is a tripped out smoker's delight. Soul II Soul, Crazy P and Nightmares on Wax can all be felt, perfect for those early evening or 'back-to-mine' sessions.

Finally, Feeling Seen sees the chaps working their collaborative magic again on a hazy, jazzy, broken beat, doozy of a track that is deep, stripped back and funky as all hell.

The release of "Scenes From My Soul" marks the culmination of the career of one of the essential figures in the history of electronic music on the island of Mallorca, undoubtedly one of the most influential DJs of his generation and one of the most important figures in the Balearic sound. We are talking about someone who, since the very beginning, has been faithful to the vibe -not so much a style as a way of conceiving music, more concerned with what it provokes than with conforming to the rigid rules of any pattern. In fact, Pepe López Ojeda (Palma, 1968) proves on this first LP that his way of conceiving music has more to do with the creation of a landscape and evoking a moment: you can almost hear the breeze from the sea, your breath in sync with the waves in the background. 

In 2020, Pepe Link returned to his role as producer to shape a first single, "Gypsy Love Affair", after three decades behind some of the world's most prestigious booths, continuously demonstrating his impeccable taste as a music prescriber. Whether at the head of several radio programs or as musical director of the Cappuccino group, for which he has already directed ten compilations that have contributed to making the brand a globally recognized label, Pepe´s careful music curator work continues to impress and delight. For his personal project, it was clear that for his release there was no better label than Music for Dreams. 

In 2022, "Korasoul" would be released and from then on, in collaboration with the Copenhagen label, he began to dig into his hard drive in search of the best musical ideas and sketches he had accumulated over the years. From there emerged the songs that make up this album, which could be considered a career retrospective, almost a greatest hits compilation, were it not for the fact that all the songs (except those already mentioned) are unreleased and were recorded with a plethora of collaborators, including the engineer Tolo Servera, the legendary Cuban trumpeter Alejandro Delgado and Brazilian singer Marta Santamaria. 

The collaboration with Music for Dreams and the complicity with his alma mater Kenneth Bager has given him the opportunity to count on session musicians to bring the required organicity to the tracks.

To come full circle, Pepe Link enlisted the help of fellow DJ and producer Kiko Navarro to complete the mixing and mastering of the album. Both are two of the pillars of the island's electronic music scene, and he credits Kiko as one of his masters in terms of DJing and producing. The rest he has learned on his own since 1994, when he first stepped into a booth. To this day, he has achieved a mastery that few can match. That's millions of nights, hundreds of millions of beats, an enormous amount of good vibes. 

Now he has poured almost everything he knows about vibes into this album. Although in Pepe Link's case it would be more accurate to say what he feels rather than what he knows, because if one thing is clear when listening to "Scenes From My Soul," is that there are no filters or cutoffs here: Pepe Link has poured 30 years of experience into each of these songs, 30 years of music, of listening to it, of playing it, of feeling it; 30 years of merging his life with it.

With spring just round the corner, Record Makers – the label that brought you Sebastien Tellier and Kavinsky (amongst others) – proudly present the sophomore album from Hypnolove, the Toulouse-based trio that have just created the soundtrack to this year’s sunshine. Welcome to the Ghost Carnival…

Featuring the musical talent of Thierry (vocals/keys), Henning (vocals/chords/drums) and Nicolas (guitar/bass), Hypnolove is a group formed between friends that share a common dream, and above all, a passion for discovering and creating music that defies easy categorization. In the purest sense, ‘Ghost Carnival’ delivers a delightful moment of modern pop, although delve deeper and their more obscure influences shine bright – something that the producer, Ed Banger’s UK ambassador Mickey Moonlight, should also take great credit for.

Nicolas explains, “We needed to find a guideline for this album and although disco and pop built the frame that we worked from, our listening is much wider than that. Artists such as the Walker Brothers, Lucio Battisti, Kid Creole & The Coconuts, Prince, Strafe, ZZ Top, Talking Heads… the list goes on, all of them deserve a salute!” Thierry continues, “We are always looking for new music to listen to and we are all LP lovers, so it was very important for us to make a cohesive album that worked from back to front. Working with Mike was fantastic, he knew all our reference points and was able to change our sound for the better without betraying the spirit of our songs”

There’s no doubt that the combination of Hypnolove’s song-writing with Mike’s production style has elevated the band’s sound and there’s a clear progression in ideas and song structures from their 2006 debut ‘Eurolove’. That album featured the cult hit ‘Mademoiselle’ and, like ‘Ghost Carnival’, was the embodiment of several years of work and that can only be put down to the group performing for pleasure before anything else. Like when they were teenagers, injected with electro-pop, New Order and the Pet Shop Boys, or years later, uncovering obscure bands and stranger more-cryptic oddities, their sound and musical connection is a natural evolution of experience and knowledge.

Lasting just over 30mins, ‘Ghost Carnival’ is as short as it is sweet, but it makes sure that not a moment is spared, with the warm feeling of a summer’s day shining down from the outset. The already released ‘Holiday Reverie’ follows the French-horned, Arthur Russell inspired intro ‘Simple Classic Beautiful’ that provides just enough skip to start your step. The glistening electro-pop of ‘Midnight Cruising’ and band-favourite ‘Come To My Empire’ fall neatly either side of ‘Winter In The Sun’ that features the brilliant vocal talent of British singer Findlay Brown. Two more friends then join the party, with Puro Instinct leader Piper Kaplan and the 9 years-old Freya Parry providing the female touch on both ‘Beyond Paradise’ and ‘Ghost Carnival’ to brilliant effect. There’s one last blast of Italo strings with the dance floor driven ‘Sleepwalker’, before ‘Goodnight Kiss’ provides the perfect, and memorable, goodbye the album so deserves.

It will have you clicking repeat, over and over. As Thierry invites us all to : “close your eyes and come to my empire”
