This is a set that I recorded recently playing the jungle of Tulum next to a beautiful and sacred cenote in the day with my beautiful friends and family dancing and connecting to the nature and spirit of the land.

Sonidos de la Selva (Organic/Ethnic/Tribal Downtempo Mix)

This is a mix of many of my favorite Afro Downtempo tracks, including several of my unreleased edits as well as some classics that I have been playing over the last 2-3 years. 

African music holds a special place in my heart. Whether it be Morocco, Mali, Angola, something inside be resonates with the frequency of rhythms and melodies, and most of all the voices. Without the need to understand what is being said I feel the spirit of so many of these artists in me. 

This mix is a journey through the deserts, jungles, and villages of Africa, featuring remixes and edits of many amazing classic artists such as, Rokia Traoré, Oumou Sangaré, Ali Farka Touré, Fatoumata Diawara, Sonah Jobartah and more. 

Most of popular music in North & South America as well as Europe can have its roots traced back to Africa. The vibrant and diverse cultures of mama Africa have spread around the world influencing cultures in many ways.

This is a mix of my favorite Brazil inspired songs! You will hear different flavors of Brazilian music, some remixes and edits of old Brazilian songs, some new song from Brazilian Artists and Producers, with many Portuguese Lyrics and Vocals. Expect chill vibes that you can dance along if you like :) I love the music of Brazil so much, it is so diverse from it's influence of Africa, Europe, and South America. I made this mix because I have all of these amazing songs that I wanted to showcase all of my favorites together and spread the love!

After many years of participating in ceremony with sacred plants and ancient medicines, these moments have had a huge impact not only on me as a human but on my music.

Dino Sabatini ft. Antonello Salis "If" - Boiler Room Debuts

Phonica Records Special Editions in association with Play It Again Sam is delighted to present the incredible Quiet Village remix of Agnes Obel’s ‘Stretch Your Eyes’, lifted from the Danish born, Berlin based singer songwriter’s critically acclaimed 3rd studio album ‘Citizen of Glass’.

Obel was at an early age guided into music by the influence of her parents, who would play and listen to a blend of the classical greats, folk music and contemporary pop. She learnt to play piano as a child but it was her move to Berlin in 2006 that prompted her to take her music to the next level. Her debut Philharmonics was released in 2010, a quiet phenomenon that spent seven consecutive weeks at number 1 and sold in excess of 100,000 copies in her homeland alone. The release of ‘Aventine’ in 2013 cemented her status as a household name across Europe and as an icon to piano players throughout the world.

Quiet Village are the British duo of long-time record-collector and DJ Joel Martin and Matt Edwards, the house and techno producer known as Radio Slave and the head of the Rekids label. They came to our attention with a series of highly sought after twelves on the DJ Harvey-related Whatever We Want label from New York, alongside excellent remixes of The Osmonds, Toby Tobias, Black Devil Disco Club and Francois K before releasing their acclaimed album on K7 Records in 2008. After a break from using the Quite Village name, the duo are back with a bang and recently graced the Phonica White label with a fantastic techno 12” ‘Social Music’ / ‘Change’.

Needless to say, Quiet Village were the first producers Phonica thought of when looking for remixes for this project and their slow, dark, dub-heavy atmospheric groove perfectly compliments Agnes’s vocal, with echoes of Massive Attack’s timeless ‘Teardrops’ coming to mind. It’s one of the finest remixes we’ve heard in recent memory and we’re proud to present it as a limited 12” on the Special Editions label.

The Houston-born beats archivist Gaddy returns to The Rust Music with another sidewalk-stomping project, the five-track Foodtruck Fugitive. We are honoured to share our first collaborative album with you all today! Its been in the works since late last summer. The bulk of these tracks were written over the fall time, and almost all of them were recorded over a 7 day period in BC in early october, to be polished and completed over the following months.
Writing this album paired for me with some incredible life trials, and at certain points really helped me keep going. I was so inspired and stoked about it that it helped me move through some deeply challenging situations while teaching me a lot.
This sharing feels like a big new beginning ,

About @tantrut

TantRut moved to the tiny Swedish island Brännö after seven wild years in Berlin. There he got inspired on legendary full moon beach raves to pick up DJing. His mixes contain tracks with elements of deep tribal dance music, folkloric sounds and rhythms in a modern electronic house or techno version. He sparkles with energy and ideas to co-create events and is a regular DJ at burning man related festivals around the globe. After AfrikaBurn festival he decided to donate all DJ Revenues in 2018 to the Bridges for Music charity that supports less fortunate artists from townships in Cape Town.

Lying on soft grass, caressing the body, squinting eyes from penetrating through the branches thin trades of sunlight, listening every sound of surrounding space he caught the moment of the breath junction and tried to concentrate on his feelings...Where attention is directed - energy follows...A little bit more practice and he heard everything at once: symphony of forest orchestra, this perfect balance...Visuals from past and future lives appear...The feeling that there is something lurking behind all this...And suddenly, from the chest, by on all body meridians, golden light began to overflow and a voice from the depths of the being manifest itself on the surface:

- Remember who you are and where is your home...Remember that love is everything, feel that bones, flesh, blood are saturated with it...And from this new perspective re:discover...You chose by yourself this experience that unpacks exactly at this moment, open and accept it...

Rising, he discovers that has become completely different: body sensation has disappeared, the gaze easily notice the smallest details at all 360 degrees, the sense of smell has thinned and a riot of aromas surged along with beautiful melody...Unable to resist, he begins a dance, spinning, and fluttering, burning in it without a trace...

Everything transforms with a full moon: poles are changing and earth became silver...He don't hear music anymore and space surrounds filled by thick fog, but nothing can become an obstacle to that clarity, which illuminated him in this forest...Dissolving in the whirlpool of experience, which has become new chapter of Amateur Exotic mixtales!

I met @j_pool during the @momentomcollective artist residency at the beginning of March 2020 just before the Coronavirus outbreak where he was facilitating Ableton music production and recording classes through his project Inspirit Holistic Music Production Retreat (more info at www.inspirit.love/). We ended up "quarantined" together and traveled after the conclusion of the residency to Ometepe Island in Nicaragua.

We were fortunate to be surrounded by an abundance of land, clean water, healthy food and amazing people while the rest of the world seemed to be on pause. We developed an amazing friendship, one of the few people I consider a true brother, while finding ourselves able to share and explore music with zero restriction - the only place in the world I'm aware of which was able to do so at the time.

Over the next few months we would play countless b2b sets, full moon parties and ecstatic dances during our time together on the island, celebrating our lives, freedoms and gratitude for the ability to do so and everyone around who was able to share these experiences with us.

This set is a special one, as it includes all originally-produced music from Joe and is a live set recording for an ecstatic dance facilitated high up on Volcan Concepcion overlooking Lake Nicaragua at sunset.

This rare set of 100% @j_pool originals opens up with one of his newest productions "Mi Alma" in which all vocals and melodies were actually recorded himself.
