The Record Machine is a pioneering homegrown independent record label based in Kansas City, Missouri. The label was founded in 2003 when we released our first record for the James Dean Trio. In the 11 years since then we have worked with bands from all over the United States. Our current roster is Chambers, Stolen Nations, Ghastly Menace, Cowboy Indian Bear, La Guerre, Little Legend, Max Justus, The Noise FM, Palace, Spirit Is The Spirit, Soft Reeds, and State Bird. Our goal is to make an organic community of artists and help connect them with listeners. Tim Finn of The Kansas City Star remarked about The Record Machine’s output “[They] have assembled a stable of diverse artists who are making music that deserves national attention.”

Bathe Alone is the dream-pop moniker of multi-instrumentalist Bailey Crone. Taking shape in Atlanta, her haunting approach to songwriting and delicate vocal deliveries often draw comparisons to Beach House, Widowspeak, and The xx.

Growing up with a formal background in classical music, Crone first burrowed her way into the Peach State's indie scene as a teenager. She picked up drums, guitar, and bass early on, where she eventually discovered a distinct identity and connection to each instrument. With a drumming vocabulary more akin to the punk world and ambient guitar drenched in delay, the foundations for Bathe Alone were starting to crystallize.

After tinkering and fine tuning her sound even further, Crone enlisted the help of producer Damon Moon — who immediately recognized an untapped potential in the project. Within months they completed what would become Bathe Alone's debut LP, Last Looks. The 2021 album quickly caught fire and received praise from publications like Under The Radar, DittyTV, and more. Recently the team finished her sophomore full-length, Fall With The Lights Down — due out this summer via Kansas City label The Record Machine. With eyes fixed towards the future, Bathe Alone has a lot to look forward to.

Sonic prognosticators Monta At Odds is a Kansas City combo led by the brothers Dedric and Delaney Moore. Dedric's pulsing, melodic bass and Delaney's artfully unhinged synthesizers frame the band's central character, which is fleshed out by a talented cast of musicians and collaborators. The result is a heady sonic pool that has been inscrutably referred to as ‘Ummagumma meets Arthur Russell’s mutant disco at Vangelis’s house.’

2021 finds the addition of acclaimed vocalists and songwriters Mikal Shapiro and Teri Quinn to the band’s lineup of Krystof Nemeth (Emmaline Twist) on baritone, Matthew Heinrich (Mysterious Clouds) on drums, Kenn Jankowski (The Republic Tigers) on synth, and Lucas Behrens on guitar and synth. With Mikal and Teri's otherworldly vocal contributions, along with guest Your Friend, Peak of Eternal Light, released on the Record Machine label,  is a cosmic sonic journey stopping off in post-punk and dark synthpop galaxies.

Monta At Odds continues to push their alternate reality into streamlined consciousness. Expect minimal rhythms set to maximum noise, shoegazed guitar signals, slo-mo psychedelic darkwave, endless dub echo, and extended-cut warped disco. Live musicians manipulating time and space via knob turning, cymbal cracking, and pedal pushing as they interlock into hypnotic moments of heavenly bliss that seem to hold forever, captivating the mind.

The Mellons are a baroque-pop outfit from Salt Lake City, Utah. Their signature sound is marked by sunshine-y melodies, melancholy lyrics, and a sturdy rock groove, all wrapped in rich orchestral stylings.

The foursome consists of lead vocalists Andrew Beck and Rob Jepson, who share guitar and keyboard duties. They are joined by multi-instrumentalist and producer Denney Fuller on bass/horns, with percussionist Ian Francis on drums.

The Mellons' sound is: pop, melodic, orchestral, baroque, mournful, and psychedelic.

Breezy and upbeat with meaningful undertones, Mount Maunganui, NZ artist Bluey Green is a refreshing representation of that stylish-yet-substantial sweet spot. Warm and with a unique laid-back charm, it’s a genre-straddling blend of indie chill pop and surf rock invoking sensations of the taste of sea spray, the shimmering of the sun on the waves, and those existential twilight thoughts that like to elbow their way in after dark. Produced by MERK (Mark Perkins), the debut BLUEY GREEN EP is a colourful journey of indie-pop sincerity featuring earnest vocals and musicianship from Mitch Horton AKA Bluey Green. The EP was spearheaded by the single ‘Morning Sunshine’ which received high rotation on national radio, the accompanying video garnered a nod of appreciation (and a resulting 120k+ views) from the one and only Sam Neill, whose film footage Mitch had used care of the New Zealand Film Archives.

Bluey Green is now gearing up for the release of the next batch of work, beginning with the new single ‘CHERRY UMBRELLA’ on 27/05.
