Miramar Mixtape 033 - Irena Stanisic Beach Shampoo Mix (Xeri Collective / Skopje - Tulum)

Its October already, the weathers shifting and thankfully we've got a heater of an episode this month. Craig Christon joins for a musical wander through those sounds currently catching his attention. 
Craig has plied his music as a DJ for best part of 20+ years, he's a top lad and self-styled Acid house veteran (his own words btw). He’s also a fantastic DJ, travelling across the UK and Europe to play at some the finest establishments..I’ve danced to him many times in fields and dark corners over the years

In more recent times he has accompanied his DJ career with a move into record label ownership/production under his pseudonym Lenny Paradise… label owner for the consistent Passport to Paradise Records that has released music from Beppe Loda, Albion, Macadam Mambo, Mori Ra, Loud E, Soft Rocks and Jaz amongst others. Some talent right there and a right discography, go seek if you haven’t already!

Craigs current project is Broken Detail an offshoot of Passport 2 Paradise with music forthcoming. On this months ReFrame he closes the show from the 2h 5min mark with an hours delve into left of centre electronic  goodness. Ahead of that we have 2 hours of the ReFrame going deep, cosmic and a little Italo

The ReFrame & Craig Christon (Beyond Paradise) Oct 21

Another year draws to close and its been another strange one by all accounts. This month we welcome JBERR, an artist ventured upon back in the summer for the final episode of 2021.

JBERR is the outlet for Melbourne-based Jack Berryman's delicately crafted low-fidelity vignettes and stripped-back Antipodean techno sketches. Drawing on decades of home-studio R&D, and an observational outlook soundtracked by experimental composition, 90s hip hop, dub, house and the techno spectrum, the project seeks to set free some of the more fully formed ideas cooked up over the past few years.

Jack has put together a selection of his own music for a 45 minute mix that closes out the last episode of '21 in his own deep electronic style. Thanks Jack

The ReFrame & JBERR (Melbourne)

Have been a huge fan of Rocky & Diesel since stumbling across them aged 18 firing out what was to be a sound that would shape my musical trajectory thereon. Tracks dropped that night were Carl Craigs paperclip people nestling amongst NY gay disco anthem Born this way by Carl Bean and deep house tinged with mood and soul in the main room of Cream Liverpool.  

As a youthful adolescent we’d try get into cream but struggled week on week until a chance encounter one Saturday and opportunity seized when the promoter Darren Hughes popped into JD sports where I had a Saturday job. 

What followed was an exchange of Green Adidas Marathon,  a giving from John and David aka JD sports for services to house music. The favour was returned with a contact number scribbled on some paper and the words just call this when you're coming down to Cream and you and a mate can go on the guestlist.. whenever.

That was August 1994…27 plus years ago.  Its such an honour to have Rocky aka Darren Rock, one half of that duo and a third of the global reaching X-Press II  to close out the show with an hour of signature dance-floor arsenal.

I know very little about this track other than it was edited by Ptaki a few yars back, theyre a Polish edit duo that were quite prominent up until 2020, they may still be but just not on my radar.

Have always admired the energy in this track despite its slow tempo and always wanted a dubbier take as the vocal wasnt grabbing. 

Sliced and filtered it a little to fit it into the next ReFrame episode and after a couple of hours fiddling its turned out okay. Its simple, driving and has some lazer beams, what more can you ask for...?

Blue Ptaki - Re-Take (ReFrame Dub Edit)

This month Andy Pye from balearic Social joins me. Andy is a good friend, musical font of knowledge and all round good guy so its great to welcome him back to the ReFrame for his second round, last one was clsoe to a decade ago now... wowzers!

The ReFrame provides two hours of cosmic disco balearica with a dash of 80s swerveballs and a chunk of ReFrame edits. Music from artists/editors including Wrekin Havoc, Yaniel, Approach Release, Baz Bradley, Eden, Unreasonable echo, Lynsey de Paul, Pascale, Jorge Schellenberg, Eurythmics, Ptaki, Will Powers amongst others.

Back in the London springtime of 2005, Danny Krivit (NYC) played an intimate gig to 350 people at  Brixtons Plan B. The night was hosted by Bacardi and was a launch for his Danny Krivit in the House mix released on Defected records. I was asked to play the first 3 hours of the night 10-1am. This is a 73 minute live recording taken from the warm up.
