It's Easter Sunday, the sun is out and so should we all be but there's no chance of that just now. Soon though, keep the faith.

In an ideal world I'd be stood in the window at Leeds finest, Doghouse, drinking far too much Camden Hells, chatting whilst I should be working and letting records run out whilst I smoke a fag.

I'll get a track list together at some point but it's mainly edits, vocals, remixes and disco on this mix, artists like Todd Terje, Session Victim, LNTG and a remix of Primal Scream by Lord Sable himself.

Nothing too heavy on this one, a bar-type affair that starts at 100bpm and never gets above 115bpm. Well, it is Sunday after all.

In the Window at Doghouse

A summer mix partially inspired by mine & Jamie Barber’s opening set at the wonderful List Festival a couple of weeks ago. Its always hard to recreate a set after it’s happened but I’ve used a fair few of the tracks on this mix that I played as the sun shone down on Sin City and had a lot of fun in the process. It gets a bit more giddy than we did on the day towards the end but hey, it was only 5pm and it’s a marathon and not a sprint.

Perfect for your festivals, BBQ’s, parks, your smokers, jokers and your midnight tokers.

This month we have another Leeds guest joining, Scott Sherriden someone I caught back up with at the Idjut Boys closing set at Rotation Festival as the Summer drew to a close. Scott brings a wealth of musical experience having played at some of the Norths seminal nights in the heyday of house musics ascension, most notably Leeds institution back2Basics. Scott closes out the show with a nigh on 2 hour mix.

Ahead of Scott there is just over 2 hours from the ReFramre with a full on deep electronic journey this month with a delve into the record shelves and digital folders to pull something together to welcome Autumns change. Scott Sherriden Bio - In the mid-80s, I fell in love with Electro, Beat Street, Graffiti, and Hip-Hop, with 808 beats and electro sounds threading through all my DJ sets. In 1991, I moved to Bournemouth, DJing house parties before landing a weekly residency at Madisons Night Club. In 1993, I relocated to Leeds and became a resident DJ at Back2Basics, playing alongside legends like Paul Oakenfold, Roger Sanchez, Andy Weatherall, and Derrick Carter, not to mention the other residents, Ralph Lawson Huggy, James Holroyd.

Back in the London springtime of 2005, Danny Krivit (NYC) played an intimate gig to 350 people at  Brixtons Plan B. The night was hosted by Bacardi and was a launch for his Danny Krivit in the House mix released on Defected records. I was asked to play the first 3 hours of the night 10-1am. This is a 73 minute live recording taken from the warm up.

mental couple of years playing every club and festival known to
man, having babies, seemingly buying up the entire stock of vintage
studio gear off ebay and thankfully knocking out some banging tunes
on top of all that.  Well all club bangers gratefully received here
at Freerange so with open arms and ears we’re happy to be bringing
you the Figure Of Speech EP.
Just as the non-believers think they know what to expect from these two they’ve thrown a rather large curveball and headed down a different road. Figure Of Speech wears some African influences on its sleeve with a bumping party groove punctuated by some nifty
afro beat keys stabs and just a hint of acid. Victoria’s Secret
treads more familiar Detroit Swindle territory with the boys trademark shuffling beats and larger-than-life side-chained pads bringing the drama. Finally, we have suitably titled Live At The Cosmic Carnival where we’re treated to some peaktime tribal business with rolling bass, dubbed out dancehall science and some nifty conga work. All in all, some fiyah for the dancefloor from a pair of lads who know a thing or two about how to get a room jumping.

Future Times is very pleased to introduce this killer 12" to the globe, a serious disc by JACK J. His 12" for Mood Hut last year flipped many wigs and this 12" is further proof that the dude is full-fledged. "Thirstin'" takes the day-in-the-life quintessence of "Something (On My Mind)" even farther, using his voice to beautify the sparkling, spaced track. The B-Side "Atmosphère" is just as mighty, as Jack channels a velvet Patrick Adams vibe in this gorgeous instrumental, the pianos in particular take the song to a galactic place. Both tracks feel like you could live inside them, each as good for walking around This Life chillin' as they are for the party. Essential Summer Music.

The stalactites (Natif) are amorphous juice from the bottom of the mind, they are the seeds of confusion and irrationality and they seep through cracks in the cave and produce chaos and trembling until suddenly, out of a nightmare are born proud crystals of splendor and inspiring beauty.
