Maker of next-generation whistles, flutes, and bagpipes

Therese and Marian grew up in Miltown Malbay in West Clare in the 90s. Both the rich history and lively traditional music scene in the town had a huge impact on their musical lives. Both Therese and Marian attended tin-whistle classes locally from a young age before moving onto their respective instruments. As teenagers, Marian and Therese regularly attended the Blondes (Cleary’s Pub) in Miltown Malbay and were immersed in a rich West Clare tradition of music and song. They were welcomed to the regular Thursday night session and encouraged by local musicians such as Michael Mahony, Pete Haugh, Michael Falsey, Pat Curtin, Tony O’Loughlin, Frankie McNamara and many more. As the title of the album ‘The Youth that Belonged to Miltown’ suggests, both Therese and Marian have moved away from Miltown Malbay in recent times. Therese now lives in Ennis, while Marian has moved to Laois. Despite this, their style remains predominantly influenced by their roots.
