Earlier this year Artefakt released a new album via Delsin, a striking collection of pensive electronics and techno which was designed as much to humble the independent listener as it was to intrigue on the dancefloor.

The Berlin based pair have become well known and acclaimed for their unique take on techno, often channeling deep ethereal soundscapes and melody atop rugged drums and percussion.

Over the years they have released material via the likes of Sungate, Konstrukt and Semantica Records. It is however Delsin where they appear to have made themselves most at home, releasing material which sits between worlds and defies the notion that techno might need to be rigid 4/4 focussed club music. 

We've featuured the pair several times previously. However, this is the first time that they have recorded a mix for the website, a special occassion given the scarcity of these sets.

For the 49th edition of Rusted Rhythms, we’ve tapped into a recurrent friend and favorite, Universe of Sounds. Flexing a host of IDM influences and inspirations, he’s strung together a scintillating dive into the far-out territories of rhythm and synthesis. Featuring the works of underground veterans such as Mosaik, Bochum Welt, and Boards of Canada, as well as few choice original productions, this mix nails its mark through and through, blending tracks  with clever mixing fundamentals and just the right touch of finesse. For ardent fans of the strange, amorphous landscape of IDM, Rusted Rhythms Vol. 49 will surely satisfy.

Rusted Rhythms vol. 49  - Universe Of Sounds

Soaring into Brooklyn at terminal velocity from the Mile High City of Denver, Nestra's performance at BK Mirage landed in the dead center of a 12 hour marathon cutting-edge dance floor music. Known as an impeccable selector and DJ in her home city, it's no surprise that she hit the decks with extreme prejudice. After being boots on the ground ourselves for the ensuing frenzy, we're incredibly excited to host Nestra's recorded set in posterity as the 50th edition of Rusted Rhythms.

Stepping squarely out of the boundaries of her contemporaries sharing the stage, Nestra's hour in the spotlight featured a whiplash cocktail of breakbeat, house, and a dash of psybient attitude. The frenetic rhythms and the driving low end featured throughout the mix come from a deep well of talent, including the likes of Nikki Nair, Guau, and Sam Binga, with each track burning serious rubber out of each successive transition. For beat freaks in the mood for a percussive hailstorm with moxie to boot, look no further than Rusted Rhythms Vol. 50.

With a decades-spanning career and carefully curated catalog of original compositions, Lusine has remained tapped into the center of eclectic electronic productions since the early adolescence of various contemporary styles. Brandishing a diligent focus on melody and syncopation, his works have been both influential to rising producers and composers, and infectious on stage beneath the spotlight. In anticipation of his performance at the Submersion Festival this fall, The Rust and Submersion are incredibly excited to present an hour-long Lusine DJ mix as the 51st edition of our Rusted Rhythms mix series.

In classic Lusine fashion, there's no hard anchor to any rhythm, mode, or motif; weaving seamlessly through both broken and steady beat tracks, there's a clear upward slope to the gradual change in energy and pace. Known by numerous aliases with compositions ranging from jungle, to IDM, to trip hop and back again, Vibert has consistently evolved, adapted, and mutated his focus with each next revolution around the sun, merging with the intended backdrop with chameleon verisimilitude. Continuing our collaborative run of Rusted Rhythms with Submersion Festival, we're honored to have the opportunity to host a two-hour mix of personal selections and cuts from Vibert's own palette.

Pushing two hours-worth of sheer groove with relative ease, the mix is awash with tangential elements of jazz, funk, soul, and the jivey interplay between those houses of rhythm and mode. It's built around a subtle, pendular flow that brings the energy in and out of high gear with an organic bent, locking in the engagement and delivering serving after serving of prime, instrumental goodness. The wide world of electronic productions and experiments often feature more than a few broken rules in service of unique melodies and rhythms, but a few especially audacious producer-DJs have a fondness for breaking every rule in the book. Pushing waves of criss-crossed genres and impulsive blends from behind the decks, Philadelphia's Inspect3r has made a veritable career out of illicit combinations, bootlegs, flips, and outrageous mid-set selections. In anticipation for his next nose dive into dance floor absurdity, the Rust and Submersion are proud to host a 1 hour Inspect3r mix for the 53rd edition of Rusted Rhythms.

Getting familiar with Inspect3r's DJ style is a full-time course in the long arc of electronic music; there's no start and end point to his interests, just whatever happens to catch his ears in the immediate moment. Translated onto the stage and into the mix, and you're treated to top notch DJ fundamentals and a powerful control over the rhythm of the party. This particular mix features a host of UKG, Jungle, DNB, and other high-octane offerings to keep the body in constant motion.
