“As I am in Miami for a couple of weeks, the mix ended up a lil’ more sunny than usual. I have not listened to the beautiful percussion mix from reboot for a long time, but I got immediately hooked again, so that was kinda my starting point and I went thru some old hard drives which I do a lot lately. There is so much good music hidden on them over the past years, so the mix here it’s a combination of older stuff and new releases on the label. The Birds of Mind song is one of my favorite songs this year. For me, that is pretty much the core sound of Get Physical, so I am super happy to have the boys on board”

It has been quite some time since the last time we gathered for a night of MBTS. I wanted to take some time after the pandemic to be quiet and see how the dance music scene would evolve, and what sounds would come out of the standstill that was Covid. Now that I have a good sense of where I want to be sonically, and what kind of energy I want to spread onto dance floors, I am ready to restart MBTS in 2023. Following our good friend Lee Burridge past the sunset and well into the day as sandstorms whipped past us in the background we stood amongst friends and strangers (who are just friends we’ve yet to meet) and we danced and celebrated together, participating in the beauty of a shared moment that can only be held in our memories as a mere shadow of what we truly experienced… What an honor to be part of it all. A big thank you to everyone who helped make that moment happen.

On Friday night this unique duo played one of the most incredible and sophisticated sets heard on the Mayan Warrior, watching all of the beats synced with the Sonic Runway made a big highlight of our burn.

These last few months, I've been working on observing the shift within my taste as a DJ, producer, and label head. I find that these moments of self reflection help move ambiguous implicit decisions to explicit artistic choices. This helps me move closer to operating with artistic fearlessness.

I'm spending more time reaching outside the boxes I’ve been sitting in, while at the same time keeping a foot in the door as a nod to where I’ve come from. This diffusion between worlds is what's most exciting to me at the moment. Hopefully you too.

It's been about a year, the time felt right to make another Slinky mix. For those unfamiliar, this is a series of mixes I do occasionally, where tracks are intentionally stretched and slowed down. Transitions and overlaps are purposefully drawn out, the way these tracks slowly wind together becomes a point of focus, as opposed to an invisible, smooth transition. This mix evokes the passage of time, which has needless to say felt quite strange this year. Grains of sand in constant motion, always shifting and blowing, yielding a detailed pattern that just seems to repeat, and repeat, and repeat...
