It’s quite interesting how we all came together, it was honestly life on life’s terms. Brett Mayers, a singer songwriter from Michigan came down to Texas to receive help from a crippling opiate addiction. Drew Vena is a singer songwriter from Chicago who came to Texas for the same reason. Noah ‘Left Leg’ Lopez, an incredibly talented rapper from Maryland got so caught up in drugs and money his life began to lose meaning, and his talent began to relinquish. Richie Wal, a songwriter from Ohio desperately needed to escape from behind the bars of his addiction to find his love for life and music again. The man behind the camera, Jake Collmann, was born and raised in Austin, and was home, but had never felt so lost. All of us were constantly fighting our inner demons, always battling our own thoughts. It wasn’t until things got out of hand and each of us were literally clinging to life that we finally surrendered and asked for help. What an incredible lesson we learned. Asking for help is sometimes one of the hardest challenges of life, but in times of desperation it is all you can do. We came together in Austin all recovering from the depths of hell but came to find one thing in common with each other, music. That was the little spark we all needed to strap up our boots and beat this thing that had been holding us back for years. Slowly but surely we gained our creativity back, found our passion again, and had a profound alteration in our reaction to life. We no longer live in the past, or trip about the future, but choose to be present in our everyday life. We take nothing for granted and keep our gratitude greater than our expectations. Music is our life, it is what drives us each and every day. We will forever be grateful to have crossed paths with one another in such dark times. We are headed towards the light.
