Bristol-based live act, producer, foremost artist Gilbert delivers the latest installment of the art:cast series: an one hour and eleven minute lasting journey through his own productions. After having released on labels such as Echocentric Records, his co-run label Innate, which he operates alongside Owain K, 030303 or Distorted Sensory Perception Tom, Gilbert’s surname, the artist teases us with some upcoming and unreleased material in his art;cast, which smoothly fits into his previous releases and enhances the artist’s musical diversity. Speaking of the latter, Gilbert’s art:cast takes the listener on a ride - not only through his own music but foremost through electronic music (sub)genres. Deep almost trancey chords here and there are enriched with some more Acid-bleeps there, Housey basslines make way for more techy ones, pad sequences turn into dreamy soundscapes and club-oriented vibes alternate with those that keep you calm and grounded. Gilbert’s art:cast has many facets to offer but remains true to one vibe, a homogenous construct with all the deepness music has to offer and also the knowledge to put a piece like this together, which wave-like guides one through the different stages of the euphoria, music can trigger.

Rising Sun is the production alias of Steffen Laschinski, a producer and multiple record label curator from Berlin. Since discovering his music last year we've become enchanted by his productions and record label Kristofferson Kristofferson. In our interview Steffen discusses his musical heritage, from exploring electronic music after the Berlin wall fell to Basic Channel and sampling music. Steffen also discusses his various record labels and his affection for the 7" vinyl format. His mix features music from Galcher Lustwerk, Levon Vincent, Red Planet, Chez Damier, DJ QU, STL and Reggie Dokes.

Top class gentleman, DJ and Distant Worlds label owner from South London - Paul Rimbaud - has joined the philosophical ride, enticing us into his inner sanctum with an expressive mix of 90's vibes rave & breaks action. The "matchball" he refers to below is to get a mix onto my new Nietzsche Lessons series, Avenue Red and Avenue Red 1210 - the only man in the known universe to do so, so far. And he's smashed this one 5-0. Invisible mixing, totally seamless. Get your raving boots on. Reach for the lasers. Safe as fuck!

Paul Rimbaud wrote: "God is dead" spoke Nietzsche but somewhat negated the power of the declaration when he went and died himself, thus allowing God to declare "Nietzsche is dead". At least he would have if Nietzsche hadn't already done him dirty. Anyways turns out that the only positive maxim we can lay our faith in these days regards the late 20th century assertion that "hardcore will never die". Accordingly I've engaged in a Hegelian dialectic on the hardcore continuum in an effort to reach some degree of polyrhythmic synthesis; old stuff, new stuff, all sharing a common denominator - the breakbeat. 

To be quite honest, being a miserable sod, I always related more to Schopenhauer personally but I think we can all at least agree that there has never been a party that hasn't been livened up by debating long-dead German existentialists. In a direct affront to nihilism I am proud to collect the Pritchard match ball with this mix so may I implore all the listeners to let inspiration be your ecstasy and ecstasy, your inspiration.

Electronic Convergence - Verdant Session 05 - January 24

Recorded at the launch of our new night TRACE at Brunswick Cellars, Glasgow on Friday 5th April 2024.

Brunswick Cellars has been recently refurbished and under new management. The quality of this intimate venue has to be seen to be appreciated. The top class sound system has been Eq'ed to perfection for the surroundings and as well as the obvious dancefloor you can also relax in the many areas of booth seating and enjoy the visuals and lush sub-bass. 

At Trace we are planning to take full advantage of all this venue has to offer with quality visuals and some of the deepest house music around. Music policy isn't rigid but we'll be playing around house, balearic, broken beat and techno, most likely sub 125bpm. 

We'll be celebrating the latest releases with one foot in the past. 

Resident Chris Curtis will be joined by local guest talent from around Glasgow and beyond on the 1st Friday of the month. 

For the launch Dave Stark & Chris Curtis gave us a showdown of the deepest cuts.

Third Echo - 11th Session (Preview)

I would say I’m from the school of house, with an introduction to clubbing in Glasgow from around 1997 at nights like Pressure at the Arches, Relief at Alaska and the famed Harri &amp; Domenic regulars at the Sub Club. 

Labels like Paper Recordings, Glasgow Underground and Soma Records really moulded my love of house/techno and almost 25 years Djing, I feel that often that sound still remains in a lot of my sets, even if disguised as disco or something a little more leftfield. With a love of synth, well produced percussion and anything that can lock you in a groove I’m not too fussy about genre.

Spending many years in Aberdeen led to me taking residency along with Chris Knox at the regular Metropolis nights, which in addition to the regular residents nights saw me warm the house for guests such as Dave Clarke, Surgeon, FC Kahuna, Justin Robertson, Felix Da Housecat, Miss Kitten, Billy Nasty and Claude Young. Working though many bar residencies has also provided a platform for more experimental sets, with a more downtempo sound.

Currently producing dreamy, hypnotic, blissed out electronic music under my Theta Waves moniker.

I'm currently one of the residents of the subSine | Sessions, and present the monthly subSine | Sessions show on Glasgow's own Buena Vida Radio. 

I like to keep things moving and I’m a fan of contrast, believing that every set should tell a story, not necessarily have beginning, middle and end but be the type of story that you would want to read again.
