Born in Girona, Martí Cros (@marticros) discovered electronic music when he moved to Barcelona in 2016. Though he mainly focuses on techno, breaks, experimental and downtempo, there are few boundaries in terms of genres when creating a mix. He considers himself as a digital-era digger, who spends his time online discovering new sounds and classifying his library meticulously to find the track that evokes the perfect atmosphere every step of the way.

"Gentleforce Presents: Australian Ambience for The Observatory"

Gentleforce is an  ambient solo project by Sydney-based sound artist, Eli Murray. Even if you haven't seen the name before, there’s a good chance you’ve heard his music. His sounds have been included in installation works at festivals such as Underbelly Arts and Vivid Sydney, featured in the Australian Ballet’s advertising program, shortlisted for the Australian Music Prize award, and found their way into documentaries and film on the ABC and SBS networks.

Murray has always based his work in the worlds of field recordings and meditational synth music, with a focus on psychogeography and its interaction between the natural environment, spatial histories, and the emotional impact these have on the individual. Fusing these concepts with his love of traditional ceremonial music from around the world, and the influence of his many
years of DJ’ing at clubs, has created a unique melting pot of sounds to submerge the listener within. Meditation is at the core of everything Murray does, and his music has always aspired to transcendence through deep listening. Guiding the listener to healing and positive sound environments.

"When Jay asked me to contribute to The Observatory's mix series, I took it as an opportunity to focus solely on Australian artists creating music and field recordings that are built around this amazing landscape I call home. It's overwhelming if you look at the wealth of talented musicians and labels in Australia that create ambient style music, so I decided to create a mix based around artists that I know personally or have directly influenced my own music productions. Even hyperfocusing on this group of musicians was still challenging, as there was a lot of great music to choose from. But, I feel the outcome is sonically coherent and also quintessentially sounding of the bush and coastline meeting together. The tracks mixed are mostly long-form pieces, so I let each song breathe and melt slowly into one another with a meditative mindset. A big thank you to Jay at The Observatory for giving me this opportunity, Marcus at Holosuite Mastering for the magic audio sprinkles, and all artists featured that have inspired me along my own creative journey.  I hope the listener can get lost in these sonic landscapes and enjoy a deeper listening experience." - Eli

The Observatory - Gentleforce

In 2023, a new private space opened in Madrid, Spain with the intention of becoming a meeting point for the pure enjoyment of underground music. Espacio Perpendicular will be broadcasting some of the many recordings taken from the venue as well as hosting live events in the future for our collective listening pleasure, here on 9128.live.

This time we have and ambient and electronic session that "La extraña Pareja" recorded a few nights ago in our space. "La extraña Pareja" is a project developed by our beloved Doozer and Alberto Iniesta when they come together to play records.
As always, starting from the day after the broadcast, you will be able to enjoy the sessions on our SoundCloud playlist. The flyer design, as always, is the work of the talented Javier Marimon.

"And suddenly we had to do a live show. In Barcelona. Each of us being in a different country".

 What does the city sound like, what do people say, how do you feel when you are part of it? Either passing through, or as a local. 
These were some of the first questions we put on paper. Sitting in a Berlin bar. Trying to get the tone, before going up to Alex's house and turning on the machines.  

From here, visits to the city of Barcelona were made and small stories were captured in transit; streets, parks, neighborhoods, markets, encounters. Barcelona, basically. We came up with an unwritten script that situated us somewhere to release our musical language.

.apart began its first steps with the 'Chapters', inviting either friends or strangers from remote places, to leave a sonic trace in our catalog. What we didn't know, or at least clearly, is that all these contributions would end up being our influences as musicians. A route through genres and styles to learn from. And one that brought us together to make this music.

You have given us one of the most important gifts. Artists and listeners. You are as much a part of this as we are. Thank you so much.  

And thanks as well to @mostrabarcelona, for being the dream stage, team and experience that this industry needs.

Izuran, "roots" in maziqh (Berber), explores what links us to each other, despite the distance, despite our differences.
Through this project, he expresses what deeply connects us to our origins. To symbols, the common root of all the peoples who share this world, from the Berber peoples to the other agrarian peoples of Africa, Asia, Europe or America.
Izuran is an inexhaustible field of buried and ancient treasures that make up the heritage of humanity.
This podcast focuses on the percussive sounds that connect us to the earth, or "Tamurt" in Berber, while creating a soundscape that can become a source of inspiration.
