Mindbenderz is a collaboration between DJ Cubixx, aka Matthias Sperlich, who is also the Head of Iono Music from Berlin, Germany, and Philip Guillaume, aka Motion Drive, Blue Vortex and Rumble Pack, from Switzerland. Together they combine decades of experience of both mixing and making electronic dance music, and thousands of miles playing in the top dance floors across the world such as Boom, Voov, Fusion, Antaris, Ozora, Indian Spirit, Spirit Base, Flow Experience and many more, just to name a few. Adding to this recipe their individual interests and expertise, they create a special kind of sound that takes their rich musical past into the next level of art. Enjoy the ride!

Subliminal é Raoni Silva, DJ de trance psicodélico do estado de São Paulo. Apaixonado por música em sua forma "sublime" desde a infância, iniciou seus estudos no violino, contrabaixo e violão. Em 2009 experimentou o trance psicodélico pela primeira vez e desenvolveu uma intensa identificação com o estilo e a cena. À partir daí ele começou a tocar Psychdelic Full On, buscando criar uma atmosfera profunda e hipnótica em seus sets. Subliminal foi ganhando espaço e apareceu em line ups de diversas festas e festivais conceituados pelo Brasil. Em 2017,  Raoni resolveu experimentar e produzir seu próprio som e já no ano seguinte lançou seu primeiro EP pela gravadora Sonitum Records, na qual acabou integrando o casting de artistas. Além disso, é a mente idealizadora por trás da « bdelic »,  uma das festas mais queridas do estado de São Paulo. Desde então, Subliminal já comandou pistas de festivais como Universo Paralello, Chidneris, Respect, Shivaneris e Dharma. 
 

ENGLISH RELEASE

Subliminal (a.k.a  Raoni Silva) is a psychedelic-trance DJ from Brazil. He was passionate about music in its "sublime" form since his early childhood, when he  learned to play violin, bass and guitar. In 2009 he experienced Psychedelic Trance for the first time and had an intense identification with the music and the scene. From there on, he started mixing Psychedelic Full On, focusing on creating a hypnotic and deep atmosphere in his sets. By 2014, he was already part of line ups of reputed festivals across Brazil. In 2017, Subliminal decided to produce his own music and  a year later released his first EP on Sonitum Records label, where he recently became a member of the casting artists. In addition, he is the  producer of the “bdelic” festival, one of the most beloved psytrance parties in the state of São Paulo, Brazil. Since then, Subliminal had been in charge of dancefloors from important festivals such as Universe Paralello, Respect, Shivaneris and Dharma.

SUBLIMINAL | SET 0029 EXCLUSIVO FULL ON BRASIL

Here it is: the full recording of my set at this year's edition of Boom Festival!

It's the first time that my whole performance was covered and professionally edited - so this is something truly special for me!

A little background info: I felt like a little kid when I entered the Dance Temple on the final morning of the festival. I was nervous as fck, excited as hell but as well amped to the max, enthusiastic and truly positive to having the chance, the challenge and as well the privilege to play for this amazing dancefloor. 

Months before the festival, a thought crossed my mind if it wouldn't be wiser and as well safer to skip improvisation this time and to prepare a set - safety first style. But a minute later I erased this thought as I realized that by doing this, I would give away the advantage of a DJ set versus a 'live' set: the ability to get into direct communication with the dance floor and to have a dialogue with the crowd based on giving, receiving and thus mutually creating a journey rather than a pre-arranged monologue of just sending out frequencies.  

So I went ahead with my trademark Boom Shankar approach of full improvisation with all its advantages and as well disadvantages. You might be able to see this in the linked video: it took me a bit to establish this connection as the energy I received from the floor was quite intense, but in the end I felt that we fully clicked and thus created an energetic and truly beautiful connection! 

Seeing the outcome of this connection in the video makes me so happy, and it confirms that this decision and the impromptu approach were the right choices.
Being able to make people dance, to create smiles and to exchange energies and vibes with each other - to make others happy with what makes me happy - is one of the most beautiful experiences of my life, and I am so thankful that I have the opportunity to do that!

The Witch doctor has always been passionate about music, starting from the age of 3 when she first heard music and was gifted her first drum set, also at school age where she performed in the school orchestra but upon finding Dance Music in the 90's she pursued her wish to DJ. It is only in the last 7 years that she has fully dedicated herself to dj'ing and later producing psytrance/psychill/Ambient and Chillout. She has been playing Psytrance since the late 90’s starting with Vinyl but a Scientific career and education mean’t focus had to wait until finances and a time came.

The rewards have been lovely this last 5 -7 years - from playing with and working with renowned artists to having weekly radio shows on multiple stations. The pandemic may have temporarily stopped her from playing at parties and festivals, but it has also allowed her creative spirit to flourish and commit even more time for producing mesmerising tracks and mixing via the airwaves. The result of this dedication speaks volumes and long may it continue. The Witch Doctor achieved a Scholarship for her Music degree of which she continues to study, loving every minute at the prestigious Point Blank Music School. The Witch Doctor's journey with music production has been a creative and inspiring story. With her passion for Psychedelic Trance deeply rooted, the last 5 years have been dedicated to crafting tracks and sets that maintain high energy along with beautiful melodic vibes.

The path to building her own studio began in France, and after returning to the UK in 2014 she hasn't looked back. The last five years have seen her appear on radio stations Worldwide, spinning psytrance music to the masses. The scene has welcomed The Witch Doctor with open arms, and she's had the pleasure of collaborating with other talented producers as well as playing sets for incredible stations. She has had releases on some major labels in the scene, Ovnimoon records, Visionary Shamanics records, Goa records, Parabola Music, Spiral Trax and numerous others. The future looks bright, giving back to the Psytrance community she has always loved.
